My new song Train's Comin' was just released!!  

It is hard to keep hope alive in these difficult times but I think that is what Train's Comin' is about. 

The song Peace, Love and Understanding was originally made famous and performed by Elvis Costello and the Attractions. I love performing this song not just because it is a blast to play but also because of the simple, straight-forward weight of the phrase Peace, Love and Understanding that lands so nice and clean. It fills the heart with something good in the moment of shouting it. 

Peace, Love and Understanding was written during a time of political turmoil and social unrest in the UK. It was meant to be a satirical yet earnest commentary on the era’s cynicism toward peace movements. Despite its hopeful message, Nick Lowe wrote it with a certain irony, asking why ideals like peace, love, and understanding were treated as naïve or laughable.

Elvis Costello’s interpretation transformed the song into a new wave anthem. His intense vocal delivery and the Attractions’ urgent instrumentation gave it a biting edge. This version became iconic, resonating with the late-’70s mood of disillusionment mixed with a yearning for hope.

So, Dave, why the deeper dive into this particular song? 
The phrase Peace, Love and Understanding emerged as a plea and a shout in my own latest song.

The title for Train's Comin' emerged out of copious amounts of train like sound design rhythmic effects laced through-out the song. In other words, I think the instrumentation and sound design led me to the Train. The bridge: this was a separate idea which I plunged in to the song like a red hot iron plunged in to the fire. Why did I add this? Just Because I felt like it. I had such fun creating it that I did not want to lose it forever AND I noted the synth pre-set called New Order Pulses had a vague sound of surreal train horns blasting through a psychic underworld or something along those lines ; ).

Thank You Nick Lowe and Elvis Costello for the lyrical inspiration of Peace Love and Understanding shouted throughout the song.
