Any artist is welcome to send us a track via freshonthenet.co.uk anytime between Monday lunchtime and Wednesday evening (or when we receive 200 submissions, whichever is sooner) - and all our moderators, including Tom Robinson, will listen to every track. This is our full inbox from the week beginning Mon 17th November 2025: from Friday afternoon you'll be able to hear our shortlist and pick your favourites on this week's Listening Post which will appear at freshonthenet.co.uk/batch590

If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. 

We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud Go tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which cannot be included in playlists. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks (and remixes of tracks) that have been previously submitted, and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

Christmas songs and the like are also not eligible for the Listening Post, although we will collect these into a playlist that will be published on 24 December.

Kevin sent Diane a massive set of big, scary drum patterns to play around with, along with some video footage of a night drive through Chicago, where he lives. Straight away, this set the mood for the new song. It would be something urban, something nocturnal, something to do with confinement, escape and the joys and sorrows of city life.
Diane went looking for samples, and quite by accident she stumbled across a fairly thin and weedy sounding set of short guitar riffs. She wondered what they would sound like if she fed them through one of her virtual amps and speakers, then she started to layer effects, do a bit of warping and transposing… and suddenly they didn’t sound so weedy any more. She added a bit of MIDI bass, and the essence of the song was there.
Next came a melody, which of course had to serve the epic, anthemic thing that was slowly taking shape. There was something so plaintive, so happy-sad about the melody that emerged, and this in turn determined the subject matter. 
The finished song evokes those glimpses and longer, wondering looks at the bright young things that populate every city on the weekend. They flash in and out of our field of vision, like fireworks against the darkness of the urban night, here and then gone just as suddenly. On the surface they seem to be having such fun—such furious, frenzied, desperate, self-annihilating fun—that we can only wonder at the pain that it masks.

Dovglass (@dovglass) is a musician and producer from Brazil who traverses the barbed-wired edges between EBM, Darkwave, and Industrial.

WL//WH is pleased to premiere Dovglass' cut "Shrouds", taken from the Various Artists "Blood Selections Chapter 3" 10-track compilation, which fuses gritty, mechanical Industrial clangour with repetitive, mesmeric EBM propulsions through a surgical interlock of stark, thumping beats, flickering obsessive synth loops and driving droning low ends, to command the dancefloor into a bleak state of burned-out hypnosis.

From EBM/Techno dark beats to more sentimental and melodic styles; but still tracking the love for the dark electronics world.

This song came together while Diane was still at her home in Greece, and completed once she was back in the UK. Kevin sent some crunchy percussion, fat bass sounds and hypnotic drones. Diane began by looping and stitching these together. 

Maybe it was the building work going on at a construction site across the ravine from her Cretan home that caused her to start adding samples of power tools! Next, she got out her midi keyboard and added some weird bubbly sounds and wicked subs—and that extraordinary middle section of brass and guitars.

There followed a month of ill health, and this, together with lots of mundane domestic crises, slowed down work for the duo on both sides of the Atlantic. This enforced hiatus gave an opportunity for the grim political landscape around the globe to wrap its deadly tentacles of despair around the pair, sapping their strength and threatening to throttle the creative processes, but in the end, their battle against the forces of darkness helped form the theme of the song. 
 
At last, a melody was written that suited the many different textures and complexities of the emerging song. Lyrically, things came together surprisingly quickly, the first two lines falling into place out of nowhere, inviting Diane to follow them to see where they might lead. Some of the lyrics remain mysterious, like images glimpsed in a fever dream, but no doubt reflecting the turmoil of the weeks that spawned them, and the hope that pulls us all through.
 
After the storm we’ll build a garden

Its been a while since Ive had proper mix, having played around with my vinyl since Lockdown, starting my little old Mint Trax record label, dusting off my Bass guitar to laydown some live tracks … and then completely changing my Dj set up… probably in hindsight biting off a little more than this minty Bear can chew and relying on the good folks on Mixcloud to supply me with some amazing Guest Sessions… 2020 has been blessed really!

And so, upon my return we thought it very fitting to offer up something of a feast, with the help of my very good friend and all round top Jock Skyecacthcer who really has put juicy jumbo sized cherry on top of this cake…  I must say a huge thanks!
