In her 2021 debut album, UNSEEN, KDL (Catie Lehman) recounts her life story and experience overcoming depression, the psychological effects of religious indoctrination, capitalistic burn-out, existential loneliness, and an insatiable longing for “home.”

From womb to present day, the album examines Catie’s lifelong quest for answers and personal journey back to her inner child through therapy and deep healing. Catie recognizes how much certain albums helped her cope with mental health issues in the past and hopes that UNSEEN will do the same for others currently suffering in silence.

Hollow is all about loneliness and internal emptiness. It captures how it feels to be consistently depressed and lonely and the desperate desire to end the pain.

Working at a silicon tech valley company: confusing, depressing, disheartening, cutthroat, ruthless, and empty...an endless chase for more, a false sense of superiority and importance, constant sudden and chaotic changes, and workaholism.

I rode the wave up and I rode it down. Ironically, the week I decided I wanted to quit, my boss put a meeting on my calendar with the title: "Quick Chat." A 5-minute meeting later, my company email, slack account, and everything else were instantly shut down. It was so sudden, inhumane, and came without any inkling that the company was in trouble.

From this experience, the song "quick chat" was born. In the song, you'll hear several different voices. You'll hear my scared and disappointed inner child begging to end the madness. You'll hear the voice of the company...the employees who preach and upload the company's mission. Lastly, you'll hear the spoken voice of the CEO, which is more of a collective voice of all tech CEOs I encountered in my job.

If you've ever been in a job that has made you feel dead inside, you'll definitely relate to Quick Chat.
