Mantrapuṣpam - With seemingly simple rhythmic and repetitive words, this mantra in fact conveys a much deeper symbolic message of the blossoming potency of the Supreme Truth. An extract from the Yajurveda, this mantra is a celebration of the true understanding of the source of the powers of the Moon, Sun, Wind, Fire, Rain, Time etc.

Mantrapuṣpam

The Camakam is typically recited after the Namakam or the Rudrapraśnaḥ. In the Namakam, we offer our salutation and in the Camakam, we are asking for specific blessings. Glory be to Lord Rudra.

Camakapraśnaḥ

These are mantras from the Ṛg Veda, the oldest spiritual literature from India. Recited at the beginning of each class, we invoke the cosmic powers or confidence and wisdom to give our study focus and purpose.

Medha Sūktam from the Mahānārāyaṇa Upaniṣat. Only those persons who are blessed with the right intelligence by which they can wean themselves from the pleasure of useless and harmful talk achieve inner illumination. They alone devote their faculty of speech for receiving and communicating knowledge of the Supreme.

Agni Mantras - Developing Will Power

This hymn of 5 mantras appears in the Mahānārāyaṇa Upaniṣat of the Yajur Veda, of which 4 mantras are also in the Ṛg Veda and addressed to Agni.

The Warrior Goddess Durga is seen as having the lustre of Agni, the leader of our journey to perfection. We pray that Agni leads us to happiness overcoming all states of grief. We take refuge in Her, the Warrior Goddess Durga, who is skilled in saving and takes us across difficulties with grace.

sa̱ha nau̍ bhunaktu |
sa̱ha vī̱rya̍ṃ karavāvahai|
te̱ja̱svinā̱vadhī̍tamastu̱ mā vi̍dviṣā̱vahai̎||

This very popular mantra for peace is recited in the context of study, to protect both the student and teacher from all the unknown variables we have no knowledge or control over, so that our study may be luminous!

May the morning sun (mitra), evening sun (varuṇa), mid day sun (aryamā), bring us happiness.

May Indra (divine mind), bṛhaspati (divine guru, master of knowledge), Viṣṇu (the all-pervading) bring us happiness.

I bow to you, the one who is constantly expanding (Brāhman)

Salutations to you prāṇa vayu, you are the true divine, the breath that we can perceive.
