“An Chreill Ag Canadh” means “The Death Bell Ringing” as Gaeilge (in Irish).

Within minutes of recording this a small bird flew straight into my bedroom window. I ended up bringing him inside for some respite not knowing whether he would make it or not. He closed his eyes for only a minute or two and woke up ready to fly away. 

I feel as though what I had composed and the event following with the bird may have been linked to an omen for the death of my dearly beloved Grandad for it was an experience like no other and served as a reminder in that moment the harsh reality that we (as his family) would all have to face in the weeks following. 

The composition was mostly improvised and on looking back, was potentially an expression of the grief I was feeling in the weeks leading up to his passing. A grief like nothing I’ve ever experienced before but continue in my journey as an artist for him and all my other departed ancestors.
