Making Covid-19-references when writing about popular culture can feel tiresome, living in the midst of it but let “Taken From A Fixed Point” by In Fields console you in this age of pandemic. This album pierces through you like sunbeams through the blinders of your quarantine-ridden apartments’ windows.
This isn’t In Fields first appearance on the label. In 2019 the artist released a collaboration with Golden bug and the exiting dynamics of that album resounds in this one. Though a little easier on the disco influences and a turn towards ambient, In Fields’ music is still “tension and release” dance music produced to perfection. In Fields characteristic sound contain contrasting elements where soft airy synth pads meet more frightening sounds dug up from somewhere deep and dark like in “Ghostnights”.
The tracks are dynamic where growing crescendos fast and suddenly fades out and you realize your mind have been focusing on a completely different part of the sound. Underneath those surprising elements sits a skeleton of well-sounding bones keeping the songs together tight and steady.
“Taken From A Fixed Point” is dance music for a dance floor in your head and triggers the muscle memory in quarantinenauts tired of hard lock-down. Though produced in a dark place, this album gives a somewhat positive vision of the future and life on the other side.

It starts off with Robi Insinna’s version of Your Way by The Lunacy Of Flowers. The Lunacy Of Flowers is a one man post-industrial act from London with a huge body of unreleased material made from fake hallucinations mixed in Black and White.
He used an MS-20, Juno 106, Micro Korg, Epiphone Les Paul Junior, borrowed bass Guitar, SM58 microphone, All Drums Sequenced on FL4 and mixed on a home computer. Robi Insinna added and reworked the original version. The Dub version was done in a real style dub session using an analog mixer and external reverbs, effects and tape delays.

Stockholm Syndrome is a DJ/producer based in Melbourne. Originally hailing from Edinburgh, Iain Mac (aka Pyz) has been DJing and promoting for over 2 decades.
Stockholm Syndrome’s style is extremely varied and unapologetic, it can’t be neatly wrapped up into a single genre. He is drawn to dark, moody techno, the raw energy of Mex-tech and the electric sounds of. Since his debut at Section 8 in Melbourne, he has gone on to clock up an impressive gig list DJing at many of the city’s iconic venues including Revolver Upstairs, New Guernica, The Liberty Social, Boney and The Mercat.
Stockholm Syndrome continues to keep himself busy gigging around Melbourne, curating his monthly podcast ‘Hostage Radio’ and putting on his own ‘Cognitive Dissidence’ parties and ‘Tilt Shift’ events. On top of this he has been focusing producing and remixing with a number of EP’s & Remixes set to drop with labels such as Nein, Melomana, Controlla, Veneno & PlayPal Music.

AZARIA BIO NOTES:

Producer, remixer and studio manager at Rec Division Studios, based in Madrid. He has also recorded music and performed sound design for Cinema and TV. His recording credits includes many spanish and international indie bands as well as  artists from the Hip Hop/Urban music scene, among others: Crystal Fighters, Tory Lanez, The Royal Concept, Codec & Flexor, The Pharcyde etc. 

Hes currently focused on mastering works, alternating various musical styles and being responsible for the polished sound of labels such as Rotten City, Logical records, Gouranga or Golden Soul 

He was one of the  founder members of the electronic rock band Cycle (PIAS / Subterfuge records) with whom made three albums and  touring a decade with them, presenting live acts at main venues such as  Sónar festival, Duo Exchange Tokyo, Razzmatazz Bcn, Pop Komm Berlin, Audiovisia festival Milano, FIB festival Benicássim e.t.c.
