"Kill Zone" is a very special song that was developed over a one year period that included a 3-month-long series of interviews with a wounded US Marine veteran who recounted his stories which the lyrics of the song were based on.  

We then wrote the music to reflect the kind of intensity and building tension that you encounter in a war zone.  We wanted the listener to feel and experience the battle zone through the song.  With heavy drums, baritone electric guitar, and 9-string electric guitar supporting the vocals, we achieved a heavy metal sound reminiscent of bands such as Godsmack or Megadeth.

"The song introduces itself with a meandering clean guitar riff that depicts soldiers sneaking their way into position.  This then gradually gives way to these huge in-your-face power chords that sound like firefights breaking out and bombs hitting the ground."

"A few minutes in, the main clean baritone guitar riff that is keeping you holding onto reality drops out. By the time the vocals end and the clean riff steps back in at around the 5-minute mark, you are pretty well certain that things are about to hit the fan! Not only is our protagonist NOT going to 'die young today', he's about to make certain that no one else in this war zone is left alive either. 6 minutes in, you reach the point where our protagonist has totally lost his mind and then for the last 2 minutes, he is an uncontrolled force of fury killing everything in sight. It's absolute sonic chaos all around you...like what I can imagine war sounds something like if you turn it into a song."

The fire lanes set, they can't get off the X,
The fast road to hell is what comes for them next,
There isn't a chance that one makes it home,
The target approaches, they're in the kill zone,

The grenade pin is pulled, then it all turns to black,
There's burning pins searing his face and his flak,
A hand is in ruins, an eye's filled with blood,
But he never backs down even though he could,

The Bravo spits death, links ping off the ground,
He can't stray from his war while his boys are around,
One foot in the grave, the other the institution,
It's curses and flames, he's Divine retribution,

Hot brass and bodies are falling like rain,
Through hatred alone he kills through the pain,
The Bravo runs dry, but not all are dead,
It's their misfortune he's now hunting heads,

The boys watch in shock as death stalks the night,
They dare don't engage for fear of being drug into his fight,
The place where he's gone is all horror and strife,
The scars will fade, but the memories are for life,

The murder is done, now out of the zone,
His pride holds him up and his friends bear him home,
His flesh is charred, his sanity is frayed,
But he's not punk enough to die young today.
