Dolorite is a work made in collaboration with sound designer Justin Marshall- part of a multi-art installation `SUBSONIC' which was created following the arts fellowship in Antarctica in 2005. All sounds were recorded over two residencies Frances took in Antarctica - with the Australian Antarctic Division and with Quark Expeditions.

Svezda (means Star in Russian) is a work composed by Frances Evans in collaboration with the Oculus String Quartet and Sound Designer Sean Barley- part of a multi-art installation `SUBSONIC' which was created following the arts fellowship in Antarctica in 2005. The plight of displaced persons from war-torn regions of the world is something that concerns many people, but all too frequently it fails to register wider public attention. Their circumstances that refugees face as they attempt to resettle in new countries tend to go unseen and unheard.

Elijah Gentle, a Melbourne-based advocate for displaced people, believes that music is an ideal vehicle for raising awareness and has established a project that documents the experiences of refugees in Eastern Europe through their own songs. He masterminded the project NO BORDERS MUSIC and he recorded the music-making he encountered in refugee camps that he visited in Bosnia, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece and Lebanon. My role was playing double bass on this in 2019.

No Borders Music - The Balkan Route - 13 Dilê Min Biaxive

No Borders Music is a collaborative platform for musicians across the world to create and release music while living in exile. Together, across seas, mountains and border fences, they have worked to produce music with musicians who are on refuge-seeking journeys and have incredible stories to share . My part was to play double bass on this wonderful track.

Frances graduated from Melbourne University (Bachelor of Education, Music), where she majored in double bass, Jazz piano, improvisation, and recording studio techniques. Acts she worked with were Litany (formerly Hecate), The Oculus Trio, Madam Zuzu and her Dumplings, Dilapidated Diva, The Vardos Trio, Scouthall, Tarantula, and Yetnikov, Sista She, Silent Box Ensemble, The Shoephone Trio, The Stiletto Sisters, and Slijovich Orchestra on double bass and more recently with The Devil Goat Family String Band and The Glitter Rats, Babaganoush and the Oculus Duo within the `Change' radical theatre (with the United Struggle Project.)

In 2004 she was awarded the  Australian Antarctic Arts Fellowship from the Australian Antarctic Division (Department of Environment and Heritage) for roundtrip through to do Filming, recording and Composition Antarctica. She devised a multi-media work `Subsonic’ which was a sonic collaboration inspired by an Antarctic journey through ice, blizzards, polar winds and storms. This exploration of Antarctica denoted a re-presentation of the ‘last true wilderness on the planet.’ (Bob Brown- ‘Memo For A Saner World, 2004.) 2007 Melbourne Fringe Festival 'Best New Cabaret Award’ received for Bite Me – Yana Alana and Tha Paranas . 
2013 collaborations in 2013 included touring with Filastine and Mc Nova across Java on their Loot Tour.  Whilst finishing the Masters in International Community Development with Victoria University on placement in East Timor, she recorded and wrote string music for “A Guerra da Beatriz” (Beatriz’s War), East Timor's first feature film released by Dili Filmworks in Australia in 2014.  In 2018 Devil Goat Family String Band won the `2018 People Choice Award’ for their performance at the Sydney Road Street Party, and she performed in a sold out season of Captain Moonlight at Midsumma 2018.
