Promenade dans les stridulations nocturnes qui se tissent autour du lac de Padula. Ephippigères, engoulevents, grillons d'Italies… 

Un sillage de trompette joué par Roger Marchetti, le père de Lionel. 

De ce côté du lac, je suis au cœur de l'été et de la nuit…  
De l'autre côté du lac, il y a une petite buvette, unique source lumineuse dans le paysage, le mouvement de quelques personnes. 
Depuis l'obscurité bruissante, j'observe comme si j'étais un animal nocturne, étranger à ce monde de fausse lumière.

Sonic incantation for the 'Thulhu Thu Thu before the sun harms you' sculptural installation by Knowbotiq, shown in Timespan Arts Center, Helmsdale/Scotland, HeK Basel, Fotomuseum Winterthur.

'Thulhu thu thu, before the sun harms you considers the necropolitical landscape of the Flow Country, an ostensibly natural territory composed from a subterranean molecular system which circulates decay and energy across geological epochs. The bog lands are unearthly territories to imagine and speculate on future extinction and the limits of the planet. Here the ghosts of the white Anthropocene – land grabs, dispossession, forced migration, corporate extraction, environmental poisoning – are preserved in deep time and rendered inhuman materialities of the earth.

The bogs register and cannibalise the sedate and rapid transformations of local and planetary systems – clearances, alien terraformings and racialised violence.  Where human memory fails in anaerobic layers one can find precisely dated nano-traces of nuclear particles, volcanic ash and acid rain. Layers of monstrous molecular intimacies and scars of peat cuttings are crisscrossed by voidings and valorizations – while the metabolic processes of the sphagnum mosses continually process parallel forms of induced living, non_living to recite matter and disturb time.' * WELCOME TO THE SECRET CINEMA *

Located at an unsuspect basement somewhere in the small town of Aveiro, and built in 1969 to support the local dissemination of censored and forbidden artworks, during the Portuguese dictatorship a certain underground auditorium operated as a clandestine cinema and cultural headquarters for the opposition to the regime.

From the depths of the house where the multifaceted artist and social activist Vasco Branco (1919-2014) once lived and worked, this secret cinema has recently recovered its original role as a safe harbour for mystics, artists and outsiders, while continuously hosting exploratory music, cinema, poetry and audiovisual performances.

This compilation features an odd collection of mostly unpublished works from artists that we feel strongly about and who have performed live at our underground auditorium in the past few years. The first volume of Transmissions from the Secret Cinema also represents the official debut release of VIC NIC, our freshly baked circulatory device for sonic, visual and written artworks.

On the backroads of DIY culture, we will keep pushing this sanctuary for the wild at heart towards the edification of possible shared futures, by openly facilitating the flight plans for time travel artefacts. We hope you join us.

"Zona Autónoma Improvisada" was commissioned by Teatro Aveirense as a live soundtrack for the interactive laser installation “Friction” by the Openfield Creativelab studio.

Originally composed in July 2020 for a live performance at the “Zona Autónoma” micro-festival, the sound performance was revisited and revamped for the multimedia show that took place at Aveiro's municipal theatre on the 11th and 12th September 2020, within the Criatech art and technology festival.

"I composed this sound piece sitting on the floor at VIC’s underground auditorium. It felt like I was five again, playing LEGO on the floor ay my mom’s place. My live setup at Teatro Aveirense was an attempt to share this feeling with the audience, by translating the intimacy of my childhood home onto the theatre stage."

Besides three cuts from the live show that took place on the 12th, we’ve included a PDF with a download link for a high-res video of the whole performance, captured by João Garcia Neto’s skilful lens. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
