’Sanba Yo Pran Pale’ is Koze's first remix in two years and is typically eclectic. Reimagining the traditional Haitian Vodou song as a summer dance anthem, warping and stretching the original vocals from Lakou Mizik’s Sanba Zao onto a bed of catchy rhythmic synths and warm enveloping bass. Ten minutes long, the original mix has a nostalgic analogue warmth that feels perfect for an Indian summer’s day.

’Sanba Yo Pran Pale’ is the first track off Lakou Mizik & Joseph Ray’s album ‘Leave the Bones’, and is a traditional Haitian song steeped in Vodou tradition: "The Sanbas are the poets and keepers of Haitian history and culture. They pass on their wisdom through song and story. ‘Sanba Yo Pran Pale’ is an invitation to the Sanbas to speak their truth whilst paying respect to the Vodou ‘Lwa’ or spirits."

‘Ostgut Ton | Fünfzehn + 1’ is a commemorative compilation celebrating 16 years of Ostgut Ton – and the first glimpses of light at the end of a long dark tunnel for parent club Berghain.

Originally planned for release in 2020, the music focuses on the interwoven nature of the label and the club in its multitude of different spaces and musical facets. Ostgut Ton artists and close affiliates worked together in pairs to make music dedicated to five different floors, each represented by a specific 12" vinyl. The result is a diverse selection of sometimes functional, other times more abstract sonic tributes; musical homages to spaces they have both influenced and been influenced by.

With the pandemic having forced the club to close temporarily, the collaborative nature of the 5x12" boxset represents an attempt to transcend varying degrees of isolation and to wrestle with memories of music and space that had been inaccessible. But certainly not forgotten.

Heading straight for the fast lane is Josh Gigante with „Attention Seeker“. A hypnotic one-note bassline with ritualistic vocals takes you onto a night ride on the highway, until the overdrive kicks in and a sudden chainsaw-sounding lead is giving off sparks.

„Tanzwerk“ by Jepe takes you to a sinister sounding technocratic utopia, where suddenly all the sounds of machine processes align and form a dance floor symphony.

Next on the 21st Four To The Floor is „Folk“ by AIKON, an upbeat affair with slight hints of 80s, New Wave and Acid.

And closing off is „Music is the way“ by Spada feat. Klara Sestiniova, a dreamy end-of-night soundtrack that will definitely provide for a hands-up and eyes-closed moments.

Ahead of the release of his album entitled ‘+’, Swiss multi-instrumentalist Jimi Jules teases us with the first, mesmerizing and most sought-after single of the last month, entitled ‘My City’s On Fire’ executively produced by label boss Dixon. The artwork concept is developed and designed by iconic graphic artist Trevor Jackson, whose multi-disciplinary works formed the graphical identities of design, music, fashion and art by the likes of Soulwax, Massive Attack and HFD / Comme des Garcons.

A perfect match for ‘My City’s On Fire’ with its bold, razor-sharp synth lead and low-slung indie/disco live drumming. Jules touches on heritage dance genres while fusing in futuristic sounds and surreal lyricism throughout, amalgamating to a truly unique and danceable experience that embodies his clear abilities as a musician, vocalist, and producer all in one.

Mood Hut’s CZ Wang and Neo Image officially release MH006, a 12-inch that features their long-leaked and celebrated west coast party starter Just Off Wave. Originally recorded in 2014, these tracks sat on ice until they finally passed Claudio’s Cadillac-test™.

Side A’s Just Off Wave throws back to a pioneering moment of Pacific Northwest hip-hop mysticism. It first gained sneaky notoriety as a favourite of local DJs, eventually making it around the world thanks to some—in classic Mood Hut fashion—misplaced CDRs. The track is blessed with the hypnotiq call-and-response vocals of the low-key but legendary Separated At Birth crew —an alias of two Canadian rappers born on the same day. Contract restrictions prohibit us from revealing any more. 

Side B features Open Mic Beat, an ecstatic DJ tool centred around an improvised drum machine traffic jam. This tune got its legs at early Mood Hut parties where it became a natural prompt, encouraging microphone-grabbing party guests to step up and freestyle.
