Because of Coronavirus restrictions and us both being so busy nowadays in other things its very rarely me and Mark get to meet up for a mix. The mix is always in his, and is usually best in the day so we can crank it up a bit without worrying the neighbours, as they have kids like Mark and we cant mix properly if its too loud and pissing people off.

Ive become very slack on the mixing front recently have been so busy with my audio production degree at SAE Institute (which is going fair to good) and now mine and FUNTs label Foot Long Records label even though I have a pair of brand new LTA Mixars Super OEMs, which are ill as fuck.

We have done these mixes for a few years since our late friend Robby McBurney (B-Side) introduced us to each other, after he showed Robby how to mix way back in 1996. Mark has really helped me in so many ways mixing and understanding the industry and I could not have asked for a better person to show me the ropes without being a brown nose who is constantly begging for gigs and being a people pleaser whose fighting over getting on after 12pm (warm up sets arent important/hard like ???). Lets not forget the impact Robby also had on me before Mark as well, as he helped me an enormous amount himself, RIP Robby you absolute fucking legend, we miss you all the world.

This mix is not perfect by any means, probably more the times im on the decks (Tommy Badman)in all honesty because im hardly mixing atm and im quite simply not as good as him anyway. But it is 100% vinyl and un-edited though so who gives a ****.

A prediction into the short future....

There is actually something else going on behind the scenes other than this 'Partys in Lockdown' against Bojo.....

Just like Cameron did over Brexit, Bojo and Chris Witty will take the fall for anything wrong that's happened over Covid (and not be charged thanks to Parliamentary Privilege), all ready to wipe the slate clean for the next Tory Prime Minister and chapter in the Tories leadership of this country.

Happening very soon, hopefully before April Fools Day (so mandate could be reversed)and the potential sacking (and massive demise of NHS) of 90-100,000 NHS staff that are refusing the vaccine mandate through all sorts of different personal reasons.

My favourite tune is still 'Psilosin' even with the newer version slightly different to the older version I had. Its better now though I must say ! the 'Secure Unit EP' is clearly for me their best release though, with all 3 tunes bangers on that. 

'Paula Series: EP1' is my favourite from the Paula Series for sure, with both tunes on that release crackers. Having recently myself messing about with Amiga Emulators on my PC, I discovered what the 'Paula Series' was. Have a play around yourself and you can discover what it is !

2022 has been a good year for The Impostors from what I can gather. It just goes to show that the cream will always rise to the top, its just only ever a matter of time ! :)

Well its been a while since Amen Vol 4 (3 yearsish), and thought it was time to play some of the the tunes that have been gathering dust in my collection. Music has taken a back seat for me the past year or so, as have been focusing on work, friends, exercise and mountains more.

But here we are anyway with 34 tunes to dance yer socks off too ! 

Jungle right across the board represented here I must say, starting off in the low 160s bpm and ending up at 200bpm.

A vinyl mix of essential tunes from the legendary label No U-Turn which started way back in 1992. Talk about a label that pushed boundaries, and it must have inspired countless artists and labels over the years also.

One of the main antagonists had to be the man like Ed Rush, a genius producer of the time.

If you don't know Darkfloor Sound then you need to, it is an internationally known record label that has existed since 2012. In that time there has been many releases on both vinyl and cassette tape, I particularly like the two vinyl I have of `Mechanistic Overlap` (2015, favourite tune `The Anvil`) and David Meiser - Those Who Still Remain (2013, favourite tune `Soviet Rules`).

Darkfloor Sound Radio Live Vinyl Mix (16-bit .WAV Download)

So me and DJ Wednesday (https://soundcloud.com/leon-mcdonald-3) made our long awaited debut as a double act playing together as `The Wednesday Boys` at the annual Brynn Hedd Beerfest in the beautiful sunny place of Penerife (Penmaenmawr).

Even with consistent fine rain the whole day, the day was a roaring success with multiple fine real ales consumed from the now infamous Facer's Brewery of Wrexham.

The late night entertainment from 9pm-Midnight was provided by The Wednesday Boys in the deep down and mysterious legendary techno dungeon of Bryn Hedd.

Me and Su3-ject (https://soundcloud.com/su3-ject) first crossed paths with my debut jungle remix release of 'Acid_Lab - Combination Dub', in which I and Su3-ject did separate remixes of that tune. We crossed paths again when I was running Foot Long Records as he did a remix of 'Kratos - Blowtorch', which was the usual very professional and polished tune I have come to expect from him.

Around a year and a half ago, Su3-ject asked if I would get involved with him on a tune, and I do the drums for it, I agreed.

He sent the tune back to me to do a mixdown, and unfortunately at the time we just couldn't quite agree on the mixdown so the tune was shelved until we revisited it a few weeks ago. It seems in that time, we had both been working towards the same things in music and sound without either of us knowing that was the case, which we both believe has worked out for the better as the tune has now reached a much fuller potential than before.

I've learned lots from working with Su3-ject and hope to learn much more moving forward into the future, cheers mate !

Techno Mix For Robby 'B-Side' McBurney (Part 1 of 2)

Mathis Mootz aka `Panacea` or later `The Panacea` is one of the kings of the Drum and Bass mashed up sound involving samples from right across the board. This is one of his rare albums, his first one to boot (`97). I loved mixing this album round and round for hours when I first got it. If you know me, you would know why I love this so much !

Theres only 5 tunes on the LP but 11 on the CD. 

You might notice the sound quality of it, it seems really distorted and tinny at times, I personally think he deliberately made it like this hence the title `Low Profile Darkness`. 

It really is utter filth ! (Good filth)

All Low Profile Darkness - Panacea Vinyl

So one of the most easiest recognizable mid to late 90s Techno Record Labels, run by the mighty Jeff Mills of Detroit. Apparently it was intended to fuse the gap between House and Techno at the time, but for me, its just precision, perfect, clockwork, minimal Techno. I seen him just the once at Mardi Gras in Liverpool in the late 90`s, the place was just absolutely rammed, and the master was just tearing up the turntables and place. A real eye opener for me at that time. I used to have a go at mixing the vinyl around the time it was coming out on my friends setups - not very well - so I hope I do it some justice here anyway.

After I posted the `All Repertoire` mix a few months ago, a guy messaged saying I might like this label. His name is Branch, and he could not have been more right ! I immediately bought up all the tunes I could they have released so far, then have bought all the new releases after that. 

Coming straight out of Amsterdam, this label is owned by MAC-V. I love how clean and crisp all the tunes sound, with some really old and new school sounding sounds in there for good measure. There are some sublime basslines and Amens flying off all over the place on these really well put together tracks.

Performed on 2 x Reloop RP-7000-Mk2s Timecode Vinyl.

All Guerilla Bass Records

The biggest jungle on earth is the Amazon Rainforest. It is the world's largest tropical rainforest, also known as Amazonia or Amazon Jungle. It has an area of 5,500,000 km2 and covers most of the Amazon Basin of South America and runs through Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana. Its burning at the moment, not because of natural causes but because of capitalism gone mad.   

The Waorani people of Pastaza in Ecuador (of the Amazon Rainforest) had been fighting a court case for sometime to stop it being drilled for oil as its their home and they have a right to live there in peace and where not consulted when it was sold off. Thats not to forget all the other diverse life that lives there also. The court case ruled on July 12th 2019 that it cannot be sold off. 

Around August 9th a major fire started in Brazil. The president of Brail had a lot to gain from the sale of the rainforest as 60% of it lies within Brazil`s borders, and the remaining 40% split between the other 8 countries. He has denied any skullduggery yet denied $22m in aid from G7 unless he gets an apology from the President of France, Macron, for him calling him a liar over fighting climate change.

People need to wake up and realise its politicians with their conflicts of interest with corporations that are having a huge impact on not only destroying this planet, but making it impossible for not only us to live here, but most organic life. Robots and machines would well be fine here in this new hostile environment, but they could only function if they gained self awareness through `A.I.`, and with the speed this is also happening who can realistically doubt that becoming reality ?

What lies behind all this ? Capitalism, destruction, politicians, misdirection, evil and lies.

Please help raise awareness for this tragic disaster for all organic life on Earth.

Amen Vol 3 (Part 1 of 2) OUR JUNGLE IS BURNING DOWN (.WAV)

Not many developments to speak of since my last mix. The president of Brazil,
Jair Bolsonaro still claims the Amazon `remains pristine and virtually untouched.` This is completely untrue of course as data from Brazil`s own space agency shows the number of forest fires in the Brazil between January and August surged by 84% for the same period in 2018.

He addressed the United Nations General Assembly last week claiming Brazil is `one of the countries that protects its environment the most.` He has also claimed the environmental relevance of the Amazon has been inflated, and that the Amazon is not a global property. This may or not be true but it would be nice if he recognised it has at least some part in the cogs of the world. Instead he commented `It is a fallacy to say that the Amazon is a heritage of humankind, and it is a misconception, as scientists claim, to say that our rainforest is the lungs of the world.`


Bolsonaro said he was `especially grateful` to U.S. President Donald Trump for supporting him over the `negative media` he has received over the fires. He commented `President Trump well epitomised the spirit that must prevail among U.N. member states: respect for the freedom and sovereignty of each of us,`. So obviously they are both friends and share a common goal in this, with Bolsonaro also an avid user of twitter just like Trump.

He finally added `The Amazon is not being devastated nor is it being consumed by fire as the media is falsely portraying,` and `Do not hesitate to visit Brazil.` Really ????

In other news a young girl from Sweden, Greta Thunberg, is doing well to give the politicians a hard time of the mess they are complicit in. Claiming they are just ignoring the science of the last 20 years as the goal for profit is seen as paramount over saving our home.

Back again with another Source Direct + Aliases mix on vinyl, as have collected a few more since the last one so decided to get another mix down. This was not planned at first but I felt like I was in the groove so carried on.

Picture was drawn in HD Pencil by a friend from school who now lives in Tokyo (MD Arts). The detail is insane, thank you Mike.

Not sure if Jim Baker is still playing out at all. Its a shame if hes not in all honesty as his (and Aslett & Kemal) tunes are just pure art of the highest form.

Back again, this time its a mix of the latest Guerilla Bass Records (GBR) tunes since I did the last mix for them about a year ago. There are also tunes from GBR`s Head honcho MAC-V alongside them, as they fit in perfectly and the tracks he makes are also great in their own right !

In the time since I did the last mix GBR have gone from strength to strength with many, many great tunes coming out from this label. With releases from the likes of Acid_Lab, Peeb, Duburban, Abstract Drumz & John Tetly, its easy to see why this label is really going places.

Back again finally with another Amen Mix - Amen Vol 4. I have been trying to do this mix for the last year it seems, but other projects seem to get in the way of it ! So the track list has changed considerably over this time. There were tunes I was going to use initially but ideas can change over time. I will use the other tunes I was going to use in another mix at some point in the future.

Sorry to the inactivity of mixes from me recently. I have been mega busy with my Audio Production degree at SAE Liverpool (which is going really well at the moment) and also trying to keep my head above water in this stranger than usual world we temporarily live in nowadays. Like everyone else my mental health has struggled more than usual but I find exercise, good diet and nothing that can artificially change your mood too much can help massively. And also just getting out into daylight to get the crucial Vitamin D we all need so very much. Every little helps ! :)

So lets help fellow humans in these tough times and give second chances wherever possible I say, lifes too short.
