This album is a very intentionally raw documentary of my intense episode of psychosis in 2013. About half the tracks were recorded on the verge of my psychotic collapse, while the remaining songs were recorded four years later, in reflection and painful memory of my difficult recovery, bewilderment and trauma I still deal with today.

In trying to put music to what words alone cannot capture, and in trying to overcome the stigma that paralyzes so many who face mental health concerns, my hope is that this music will be an inspiration to those whose lives have been scarred and changed forever because of serious mental afflictions. I did not find faith in madness, but faith found me.

Matthew Johnston is a Post Rock Artist from Prince Edward Island, Canada, who currently sings and plays electric and acoustic guitar. 

He has produced nine independently recorded solo albums from 2013-2023. 

His latest release includes "Joyful Noise", a Christian Post Rock Album.

His other 2023 release includes "When The World Ends" (2023), a Post Rock Album.

Other releases include "To A Better World" (2022); "Sagiquarius" (2020); "Son, Pray" (2019) and "Wintersleep" (2019).

His 2017 album, "Out of My Mind and Back in Again", is an ethereal, raw acoustic-rock documentary of his intense episode of psychosis in 2013. About half the tracks were recorded on the verge of his psychotic collapse, while the remaining songs were recorded four years later, in reflection and painful memory of my difficult recovery, bewilderment and trauma he still deals with today.

His other two Independently released albums in 2013, "Canadian Dream" and "Dragon in the Woods", engage the surreal and experimental outer-limits of post-rock, laced with emotional outpourings and improvised singing and guitar.

In 2021, Matthew completed a professional studio recording of a track entitled “Start Something” for the Birdsong Foundation in Ottawa, ON. The album (First Flight 101), which draws on work from Canadian musicians across Canada who identify as having a mental illness, is slated to be released in February 14, 2023.
