This project came out of a creative communication assignment for my current MSc in climate science. It was inspired by "Unci Maka", which is a Lakota word meaning Grandmother Earth, the literal translation is "very ancient me". Many indigenous languages don't recognise a separation between us and nature as the English language does. Maybe this can point us to our role as nature, and deepen our connection, using our hands and hearts to heal together.

At ad21, we are delighted to present Piano Whispers 01, a unique compilation celebrating Piano Day 2025 (March 29). This album brings together 51 talented pianists from around the world, each contributing their artistic vision to the neoclassical piano music landscape.

Nicholas Baskerville delivers a mesmerizing and intimate piano piece, where the delicate felted tones create a dreamlike atmosphere of warmth and serenity. Hypnotic and deeply soothing, his composition gently unfolds, guiding the listener toward a state of tranquility and introspection.

An ambient piano track that I hope will create some emotion for you, probably best heard on headphones, I hope you enjoy it.

Originally this idea came by listening to a YouTube video on composition then I used it as the basis for a short challenge piece on Max Konyi’s Sonic Sorcery channel under the title “Where I Must Return“

I turned it into this ambient track, I will possibly use the idea to create a choral piece in the future (maybe!).

A little piano improvisation dedicated to family, friends, and others who have had to start again and have shown great faith, courage and resolve in doing   so. A companion piece to "Crossroads."

This movement is constantly shifting and discovering itself as it unfolds, so I didn’t assign a particular key center to this movement; it is like experiencing the world for the first time with fresh senses. It ends inconclusively, leading to the next movement.

The original song just had acoustic guitar and piano.  Torben Fugger heard the song on SC and took it to a new level of orchestration adding tasty slide+electric guitar work.  At that point it sounded like it needed some low end, and Wayne Cribbs stepped in to add a tasteful bass guitar track.

Réflexions sur un après-midi européen is Akiva David's first symphonic composition in neoclassical style. The six movements are a sweeping orchestral journey through the elegance, melancholy, and romance of continental life. Blending the lush Romanticism of Rachmaninoff, the lyricism of Grieg and Schumann, the refined textures of Alexandre Desplat, and the haunting modern tension of Nicholas Britell, these pieces transport the listener into the salons, boulevards, and piazzas of an eternal Europe. Each movement captures a moment—fountains in Rome, a café in Paris, a winter canal in Amsterdam—woven together in a cinematic tapestry of memory, desire, and timeless beauty. This is music for those who still believe in the poetry of place, the intimacy of history, and the luxury of reflection.
