＊By the way, it's Ray, not me, who makes the chord backing that takes the rhythm with the wah pedal, the thick chord stroke with the flanger, and the pick scratch that rubs the wound strings with the pick.  Please listen to Ray's work and check it out.  From the beginning, Ray brought a sound that wasn't normally "suitable" for this piece.  The charm of this free and open work is exactly what Ray created.

Over the last few months, we have been exposed to a lot of media coverage. A man who lived and worked with his family in Poland returned to his hometown of Lviv with his family. "I can't stand to see the destroyed city anymore. I want to regain the beautiful Ukraine," he said. "It's a beautiful country, Ukraine," said one woman proudly. She said, "It has been destroyed and polluted, but we will definitely regain beautiful Ukraine."

When the Ukrainian people talk about "Ukraine, a beautiful country", there is a vast sky and land. As I watch the news of the tragedy, I find that we are more encouraged by the strength of the people who are ready to rebuild the country.

Initially, I was planning to work on another work by Ray, but when I listened to this song again, I noticed that "the sky" appeared in the refrain part. I know the lyrics of this piece deal with a different theme, but as I hummed the refrain, I felt that it could be a "fighting song" for me to move forward with the Ukrainian people. .. The target of support is the Ukrainian people, and I myself. I secretly thought that I wanted to make it one of the "cheer songs" for everyone, who are struck by this unreasonable invasion. And I decided to put my guitar on this song.

In addition, "Lillithe / Paploviante", including the sound source that Ray seems to have used in this work, should be called our great pioneer in that field as well. They have produced a huge collection of works using Vocals' Audio-Samples as the theme. At that time, I would like to note that they are experts who have mastered the source and lyrics of Samples by clearly stating them each time. The creators who inherit the method will be able to learn from the various usages of Samples to the usage rules by keeping in mind the reference of the works they have accumulated. It will be a great ally for each successor as they open up the future beyond SoundCloud.

Their enormous collection of works teaches us a lot. I would like to express my deep gratitude to them again for that.

This is a totally stolen idea gleaned from another one of those phone conversations with my brother Gary. We talk to each other every few days and normally end up sounding like two old men sitting on a park bench putting the World to rights.

I’m sure a lot of what we say has been said many times before (what hasn’t?) but one day, out of the blue, Gal says to me “ Sometimes I find things too difficult to deal with. I would love the opportunity to step off the world for just one second and clear my head a bit...” At the time I just accepted it as the type of thing we say to each other but two days after the phone call the idea of stepping off the world to escape the pressures of daily life returned when I was playing my guitar. The words “I’m stepping off, I’m stepping off” fitted with what I was playing and the start of a new opus was born.

Once a song seems complete, I generally record a quick demo and send it off to Gal to see if it has any potential. If he thinks it has, between us we try to put a better demo together to send to Hans.  If he thinks it’s any good, he’ll work on an arrangement and more often than not sends back something back that sounds way better than what we’d imagined.  

We might chip in a few ideas here and there (as Gal did with a totally new drum arrangement on this) but Hans is definitely the one that gives it most of it’s final shape and sound.  I love every step of the songwriting process.  It provides a kind of therapy and the creative process gives every day purpose and interest.  You could say it’s my way of stepping off the world for a short moment.

*UPDATE.  After a 5day hiatus, tried to say thanks to all those who have been leaving comments for 'River To River' this morning (Sunday 11 Dec.) but was blocked again after only 2 hours, during which time I was able to send 43 replies.
I will resume as soon as I get the chance.  Apologies to all I haven't had the chance to thank as yet.  It's clear I won't be able to continue like this so have decided to stop active interaction with SC after the end of the year.  Will try to keep everyone posted on developments. (Gary)

For the fourth time in the last few weeks, I have been blocked from making or replying to comments and also cannot sign-in to my repost page. My sincere apologies to you all for the radio silence but it is not of my choosing.
I have written to the SoundCloud Helpdesk to ask why this is happening and to say they have not exactly been helpful is something of an understatement. This is part of their reply:
"If the issue persists, it’s possible that you might have been flagged by our anti-spam systems. These systems are automated, and although we’re always refining and improving their detection measures, it is difficult to ensure that they’re always 100% accurate.
They focus on detecting accounts posting large numbers of similar or identical comments in a 24 hour period, to people who haven't recently interacted with them. Looking at your comments, even though they are positive, they don't always vary so much. This is why you've run in to this block a few times.
To avoid being blocked, we would suggest making each comment unique to the person you're contacting, or trying to cut down on the total number of comments you make in a day. The more personal and unique the comment you make, the more memorable it will be to the person receiving it. "
I replied, disagreeing strongly about leaving similar replies, particularly to accounts I have not previously interacted with. I also asked many questions to precisely ascertain any prescribed limits SC have on leaving likes & comments and on reposts. They didn't answer my questions, stating merely "I understand your frustration however, as mentioned, these are automatic anti-spam systems and when a user gets blocked, we cannot removed (sic) the block from their account before it's due to expire."

I have written individual messages to friends here on SC and the same has happened to many of them. They too have written to the Helpdesk without success.You are never let into the secret about how long the block will last, neither it's specific reason for being applied in the first place. Piecing together what I have been told by others, you can be flagged for leaving too many likes, too many comments (and comments that are too long) and reposting too many songs. But you have no way of knowing exactly which because they will not tell you, relying solely on the explanation that as the system is automatic, there is nothing they can do.

The way I have operated my account hasn't differed very much over the 9+ years I have been on the platform and am puzzled as to why the problem has only arisen over the past few weeks. Right now, I am not too sure what I can and cannot do. What I do know is that I am heartily fed up with being treated with contempt which is why I have been forced into the decision of stopping active interaction with SC from the end of 2022.

I heartily wish things were different but as I said, it's clear that it is impossible to carry on like this...

I arrived in London in early ‘71 and landed on the Holland Road, Shepherd’s Bush not long after.
My good pal Julie Lewis (from Durham) with whom I’d worked with in Sydney, had digs there and invited me to stay. Nonetheless I found it a challenging place to be after Sydney, Summer, beaches, family and gigs. Amongst Julie’s record collection was Nick Drake’s 'Bryter Later' which brought solace to me as I often felt very alone and completely at a loss as to how to navigate London town.

Years later I was to learn that Freddie Mercury was living just a few doors down from us on the Holland Road...no I never knew him...but when I wrote the lyric it seemed apt to pay homage to Freddie and our collective dreams. I’m so happy with Cripple Club’s interpretation of the lyrics, bringing to life a musical collage that depicts the highs and lows of living on the Holland Road through my first cold winter! From my heart; thank you Terry & Gary Reeves; you are two soulful & gifted brothers; I feel so indebted to you both and to Hans Albers for his powerful musical contributions. When I first heard this work on the "IPG1" page, I still didn't understand how wonderful it was. I realized that when I heard "Lillithe" make it into a work. I once again admired the musical talent of "Lillithe". I thought there was no room for me to get in there. But that wasn't the end of the story. This is because "Paploviante", a partner of "Lillithe", finished it in another work. The work was also a wonderful finish. As I listened to it many times, one day I suddenly began to wonder, "I think this is blues." I chose a blues three-code that matches the work of "Paploviante". I checked whether the scale derived from it fits the Vocal of "IPG1". It matched exactly. The three chords are introduced below, so if you are practicing playing the guitar, please play the guitar with our recording.Please take this opportunity to check the relationship between the blues chord progression and the blue note scale.
