I don't usually sing rhythmic songs, but I like Rock, especially these 2 Elvis songs.
It's just a little nod to my big brother Phi Van who moved back to Laos. He sang them very well.
This song was arranged in January 2013. I sang it for the first time in 2018 at a birthday party... I didn't think it was hard enough to sing, plus the tempo is very fast. (I suspect my arranger of speeding up the tempo to boost me😒😩). I had a hard time finishing the Teddy Bear song. 😁 Just for fun ! 😊__________________________________________________________________

Introduction in English:

Sometimes I wonder if there is some kind of ‘safe place’ in this world. Everywhere I look: Wars, climate disasters, starvation and poverty. Not to mention the increasing everyday violence at home, in the neighbourhood and on the streets.
As early as 1962, John Lennon described in the song ‘There's a Place’ (perhaps also under the impression of the Cuban Missile Crisis at the time with the acute threat of a third world war) that sometimes the only thing left to do is to retreat to an inner safe place when the outside world (as is now increasingly the case again) is increasingly on the brink of an abyss.
In this respect, this song is highly topical, although I would like to add that the search for the inner safe place should only ever be temporary, in order to regain strength there (for example through one's own musical creativity) in order to make a greater contribution to the preservation of the earth and human coexistence in the outer world.
I am sure that John Lennon meant this kind of fluid balance between gathering oneself inwardly and being lovingly in the world.       

Introduction in German:

Manchmal frage ich mich, ob es auf dieser Welt eine Art "Sicherer Ort" gibt. Wo ich hinschaue: Kriege, Klimakatastrophen, Hungern und Armut. Ganz zu schweigen von der zunehmenden alltäglichen Gewalt zu Hause, in der Nachbarschaft und auf den Strassen.
John Lennon hat (vielleicht auch unter dem Eindruck der damaligen Kuba-Krise mit akuter Dritte Weltkriegsgefahr) in dem Song "There's a Place" schon 1962 beschrieben, dass einem manchmal nur der Rückzug an einen inneren sicheren Ort verbleibt, wenn die äußere Welt (wie jetzt zusehends wieder) zusehends an einem Abgrund steht.
Insofern ist dieser Song brandaktuell, wobei ich hinzufügen möchte, dass das Aufsuchen des inneren sicheren Ortes immer wieder nur vorübergehend erfolgen sollte, um dort (etwa über eigenes musikalisches Schaffen) wieder Kraft zu sammeln, um in der äußeren Welt verstärkt einen eigenen Beitrag zum Erhalt der Erde und des menschlichen Miteinanders zu leisten.
Ich bin mir sicher, dass John Lennon diese Art von Fließgleichgewicht zwischen sich innerlich sammeln und liebevoll in der Welt sein gemeint hat.

The good old smile... It's contagious. the physical manifestation of projecting positivity. From birth our Mum's and Dads smiling faces solidify that reference for most of us lucky enough to have that. I try and get my kids to force themselves out of angry moments with a smile... It rarely gets as far as an attempt... But when they try it... It always neutralizes their negative feelings. We need more smiling at each other in my pea head opinion. It's not the whole song but wanted to give smiles a shout out and appreciate them for the amazing thing they are. Even with people you've never met. Your presence with them is instantly warmed by a smile... Here's to smiling 😊

I do crack up laughing sometimes imagining making emoticons in conversations and doing them for real...Sometimes they're placement in messages is hilarious when you imagine the person or yourself actually doing the face in a real conversation... We would all look like complete muppets 😃 Placed right though and in the real world... There's no beating a smile 

Imagine for a second 100,000 Israelis and 100,000 Palestinians... Some alien came along pissed off watching them... I bet that's how they fix it... Weapons taken... They all need to line up face to face, human to human and smile until it's fixed. One can dream 🔆
