"Will I ever feel good again?"

This is what I asked myself every day for years after the death of my brother from opioid addiction.  He was my mentor, my best friend, and my hero, but none of that could save him from his fate.  Born Into Addiction chronicles my many issues with Jeff's addiction and the subsequent layers of grief I experienced after losing him after his 25 year struggle.  I hit emotional lows I never thought possible, to the point where I wondered if I was ever going to make it out of the darkness.  Thank God I did, but it took SO much time...  The final step to heal was writing this album.

For me, what I'm most proud of is the second side; it contains songs of joy and happiness - feelings I didn't even imagine I could experience while I was schlepping through the subject matter of the first side.  I eventually did feel "normal" again and if you listen to my songs you'll know that it was friends and family who helped guide me.

There's some kick ass guitar if you like that old-school stuff.  Also, a tribute to my favorite women in rock.  Jesus makes an appearance on my driveway as well.  Finally, There's a rocking tuba solo from a certain teenager - the only instrument not played by myself.

So I share this in hopes of connecting with fellow survivors, but also to give anyone else stuck in grief hope that it does end.
