A great friend of mine was going through a difficult period in her life which put her at an impasse of sorts, a crossroads where she had to decide on a path for her future. Not the easiest of choices either. At the time, I thought of writing a piece of music that would best capture what she was going through. Crossroads is my humble attempt at capturing this time in her life. Crossroads is a melancholic piece written for Piano and Cello.

Adelita | Francisco Tarrega

I composed this piece for a string trio with piano accompaniment, “The Day After” is a haunting piece about the absolute injustice of the war against Ukraine. Much of what is happening reminds me of my grandfather’s stories about the suffering he endured when his homeland Czechoslovakia was invaded during the Second World War.

It is beyond spiritual comprehension why the people of Ukraine have to endure this level of suffering because of one man’s agenda to subjugate Ukraine, tearing down its statehood.

I am a musician, I am not a fighter, this piece of music is my way of standing in solidarity with the Ukraine.

The Day After

I am a Cape Town based musician, composer and producer. 

I fell in love with music at a young age but only discovered the guitar quite late in life at the age of 17. I love Spanish music and was initially drawn to music by the sounds of my mom playing Gypsy Kings cd's in the home:-) Later I was profoundly influenced by a deep connection to classical guitar music through listening to recordings of so many proficient and talented performers throughout the world. 

My musical journey is an ongoing process of inspiration through discovery. I love all music and admire so many artists, there is such an abundance of talent out there in the world that I am continually influenced by.
