It was 1988 and 4.2 seconds of sampling time. My first synth was not a synth. It was a sampler. A Roland S-10 to be precise. It was not long before, I used my high school graduation money for a  Tascam Porta-05 and a Roland 505 and a Radio Shack Realistic bookshelf speakers.  Rudimentary by most standards but that is how I cut my teeth.
My college years was spent playing bars in and around  the Lower East Side. I hauled my bass rig  around Alphabet City stuffed with all the rest of our gear in this humongous boat of a 76 Lemans. I remember that car. It was actually painted white with a roller. No shit.

To be blunt, the only music class I been to was Miss Forte's class senior year.  That's it. I would not dare glorify my stuff as self taught. As that would imply there was an organized effort on my part to learn shit. No such thing. I tend to run into things. Store seemingly useless data.  Lateralized that data set with new information and see if I can may something out of it at a later time.

Years passed  and I am still here. Adding my noise to the cacophony of  production music.
