I’m d.phylleia, I’m a DJ new to the scene, from London (UK). I’m inspired by electro in all its form. In particular, all things gritty, distorted and bass-driven. I’m drawn to the genre because of it’s history, complexity and the underlying darkness in its sound. I have a bi-monthly show on @narr-radio in Leeds, which explores other forms of electronic that inspire me such as industrial, darkwave, experimental, post-punk, EBM and rhythmic noise. For now, my sets are all vinyl, which shapes what I play as much as how I go about it. This aspect of my DJing is also useful in finding older records!

Hi-hats and shakers scarper around like pistons firing on all cylinders and swooning pads fill the breakdowns with an airy wonder, compounding to create a delicate yet powerful dance-floor filler. With otherworldly textures and a powering punchy kick, ‘Civic Pride’ reflects gliding down the highway at 3am on some freshly laid tarmac. Smooth as silk top-lines sit on upon a sparse yet encapsulating broken-beat, making for a truly devine listening experience.

‘Dare’ exemplifies an astral road trip surrounded by shimmering melodic stabs and fragmented, playful percussive elements. Emo-tinged alternative pop, broken beats and atmospheric dreamscapes make up this abstract journey from one of our favourite Irish artists.
