(ARRANGEMENT) "I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free"

An original composition for the contemporary saxophone quartet exploring the diversity of counterpoint and the dexterity of the saxophonist, highlighted at times in some rhythmically challenging motifs. The idea behind this piece is to explore different approaches to texture, mainly exploiting the idea of counterpoint and polyphony whilst also featuring chordal homophony and antiphony. Running time approx.04:30 minutes   

Quintessential Quarterpoint

Minimalist music for four pianos. Based on Steve Reich's  "Octet" composed in 1979, later re-scored as "Eight Lines" in 1983. The Rhythm and repeating ostinato from bar 1 of piano 1 in Eight Lines is the 
main inspiration and theme used in my piece, the difference being, I descend the pattern whereas Reich's ascends

Reich Reimagined

A suite for mixed chamber sextet set in the heart of Victorian London
on a chilly winter's day at the market along the river. 3 short movements: 1.Sunrise (market sellers begin their day, readying themselves for the days trade, pick pocketing thieves enter towards the end of this movement), 2.Pick Pocket Jack (loosely based on a couple of Dickens characters! the pick picketers are out to see what they can help themselves too, all is resolved at the climax of this movement however), 3.River Waltz (as the Thames freezes over, the river is filled with skaters and brings this short work to a close in merriment and light hearted fun) 

This piece also features a cap gun and police whistle to simulate the arrest of the villain in the 2nd movement.
