For over a decade, Mario of Vratsa – SHADE. – has been a defining figure in Sofia’s underground techno scene. We first met him 10 years ago at The Loft. Back then, his intensity and precision already hinted at something bigger. Now? He’s one of the cornerstones of NUTONE movement.

Arcane Records is in the habit of delivering the most cutting-edge beats from its pool of accomplished global talent. Bolstered by the A&R commander-in-chief, Eli Brown the imprint has become an outlet for fiercely discerning artists producing the most earnest, diligently crafted electronica.

Irish born, Spanish raised artist, SIAN who now calls Miami is home, where he runs the long-standing Octopus Recordings has become synonymous for his darker, intricate techno, whilst remixing artists including Hi-Lo/Oliver Heldens and Deadmau5, he collaborated with rave pioneer Hiroko Yamamura in on two Octopus tracks ‘She’s Evil’ and ‘Black T-Shirt’, but this new release marks both of their debuts on Eli Brown’s Arcane. SIAN has dived his creative mind into the world of photography, where his work can be bought at Saatchi Art.

Dubbed by Mixmag as ‘One Of The Top DJ’s Who Defined 2024’, Hiroko Yamamura has based herself in Chicago for the last 2 decades, a melting pot of inspiration for her dynamic production style of techno, house and electro, blending jacking and rave elements. Whilst featuring in their coveted LAB Ldn live stream and a Boiler Room which went viral, she claims she’s not a legend of Chicago, just a raver and an unpretentious music lover.

A lot is to be expected from their first release on Arcane, and the two tracks do not disappoint, with title track ‘Frequency Moves’, SIAN and Yamamura deal a swift gut-punch of gritty minimal techno. Filleted into portions of weighty bass and swelling synth rolls, its narrative driven vocal nonchalantly croons as metallic effects clang aside mellow percussion making for a heads-down, shoulder roller.
On the reverse, ‘Demons’ is methodical and more melodic, offering a beat that initially chugs along in a focused state of hypnosis. Out of nowhere, lyrics then begin to penetrate its undulated surface to beckon a dark ensemble of rave ready fills and grimy melodics turning the energy levels skywards whilst leaving no room for ambiguity.
SIAN & Hirkoko’s ‘Frequency Moves‘ will be released on Eli Brown’s Arcane on the 2nd May.

Angioma returns to Dubfire's SCI+TEC with Waiting EP, a 3 track release that channels his signature blend of groove and hypnotic structure. The EP includes a remix of "Waiting V2" by Berlin-based producer, DJ and label owner Blue Hour, known for fusing elements of Acid Techno, Breakbeat, and 90s Rave.
