This is a recording from my Facebook page post "My Bloody Cycle". It shares my "embarrassing" experience of buying menstrual products.
I have had my period for over 10 years now and I still have qualms about purchasing menstrual products  and every day I am still learning to not let it affect me. 
I think creating a safe and open environment to speak about periods is key to educating young ladies and women about their bodies and this is what this post aims to do.

My Crimson Purchase

Sonnet 18 is Shakespeare's best known sonnet. It describes beauty and decay, and references nature and someone beloved by making a comparison between the two. What is significant about this sonnet is the self-reference - although beauty decays as a person gets older and dies or as the seasons change from Spring to Winter, the couplet suggests that as long as this sonnet continues to be read, the beauty it describes will endure like an eternal summer.

In this track I try and figure out "Who am I?"

This question - asked so often - makes me think that there is actually a plausible answer. Almost as if our being were a fixed thing. I find that people who ask this sort of question are typically struggling with their identity and are searching for a core sense of themselves, which was my reason of even tempting to answer the question. 

The irony is that the more I was trying to identify who i am, the more fragile I felt about myself.

For as long as I can remember, I have always been fascinated by radio. At first it was all about being the presenter and being ‘famous’, but as I grew up I came to appreciate the art form of capturing people’s hearts with just your voice, also the amount of work that it must take to actually get the certain show that you love. That is when I started to be interested in what happens besides being on air, like marketing and producing.

I am currently in my final year at Rhodes University, doing a BA (Journalism), majoring in Multimedia Storytelling.
