Having run 2 marathons in every state, this is my musical interpretation of what I experience at a marathon. The opening phrase is the arrival (checking-in, walking through the expo, having a nice meal the night before), then the race starts: first it goes along as planned and then the wheels come off. (Yes, that's me in the photo.)

This piece was originally written a number of years ago as a prospective fight song for the University of California at Irvine pep band. However they rejected it as being "not serious enough". I recently revived and revised it. It's still not very "serious", but who says it has to be?
