I wanted to make a sort of overworld map type theme and came up wit this. I didn't intend at first for it to sound so Chrono Cross inspired but as the song began to take shape, I could definitely hear the influence. So I went all in on that idea.

It's a generic and chill track, I think suitable for anything from sailing to travel to a coastal stage in an action RPG. I'm very happy with it!

Azure Highroad

An esteemed friend introduced me to some Viking music on a road trip and it inspired me to make something in that vein. 

While not strictly nordic, this track uses a collection of instruments that I was able to identify while listening. I hope you enjoy it even half as much as I did making it!

This track won't take to algorithmic mastering very well (it sounds worse) so it isn't as loud or clear as some of my other tracks. Sadface.

Sigurd's Last Stand

Wanted to make something lighter and swingier than my usual RPG fare and wound up with this. 

Not sure what kind of theme this would be, but it has a nice generic groove to it that would work for a lot of things.

Big Bonk Baby

A theme of sadness, for that part in the game where you come back to the village to find it razed to the ground. 

Despite the loss, the journey must continue.

Wake of Fire

Just messing with VST guitars again - I ran out of patience on this one and had to call it done after too many weeks of listening to it. 

I just wanted to make something upbeat with a solo violin and guitars in it. 

I'm happy about the results, despite that! The mix is a little dense but I learned a lot.

Bend or Break

A very simple song that I tried to fatten up with extra stuff at the end, but it all seemed to detract from the core composition, so I opted to keep it simple.

This theme feels like a step up for me in chord progression - something I continue to struggle with.

Tattered Silk

Man, VST guitars are hard to make sound good, even just as rhythm backers. Anyway, this is a song that has been simmering in my DAW for way too long.

Really just a theme for hitting the open field and hacking up baddies along the way. Y'know - the kind of music that has a disproportionately massive magnetic pull for me.

Fairweather

The champion of House Tibor is famed for his stoic prowess on the battlefield - crushing and butchering all who would challenge his dominion.

Lion of Tibor

Only a fool would stand their ground against the Lion of Tibor.

I just made this to prove that I'm not dead, mostly.

But also to practice dynamic contrast, which I feel like I really need to shore up in my own compositions.

Arctic Fox

This is a remastered and reuploaded version of Faded Leylines, a song inspired by noodling around with Soundpaint stuff.

Everything here is Soundpaint except for the piano, which is, as always, NI Noire.

I don't normally chill out and write stuff this slooooow but a lot of the virtual libraries I gobbled up during Black Friday are so excellent in this domain.

I listened to a lot of the Skyrim soundtrack so I could get that vibe in my bones and then did my best to make something of that accord.

Happy to finally unleash my cover of Nobuo Uematsu's "Magitek Research Facility", that bangin' track that plays in the place of the same name in Final Fantasy 6.

Devil's Lab (Magitek Research Facility) - Final Fantasy VI

I've always liked this composition by Nobuo Uematsu. I tried to keep the cover largely unaltered from the original, save for a few flourishes here and there.

I tried to keep it appropriate for the game, too, as though you could slot it right into the remaster or some such thing. In that sense, the orchestration is relatively sparse - you may have noticed that there isn't a single string instrument to be heard here. Unless you count the bass guitar.
