Es un proceso que requiere penetrar en su naturaleza, es decir, descubrir qué los motiva, cuáles son sus creencias, miedos, sueños y cómo perciben el mundo. Este conocimiento profundo no se produce en una sola conversación o a través de observaciones superficiales. Requiere tiempo, atención plena y disposición para comprender incluso aquellos aspectos que una persona puede estar ocultando o que ellos mismos no comprenden completamente. A veces requiere hacer preguntas difíciles y, a veces, la capacidad de escuchar el silencio.
