Description: Great start on the audio for my new research area! 6 loud calls and a hard & loud wood knock.

Huffing sounds, lasted 3 1/2 minutes, but long periods of no sound were removed to shorten the clip. I can usually hear footsteps of deer, but heard none from this creature. Recorded at 3:02 am on 04/20/21 in Nebraska.

🎧Headphones on!🎧 This was a very unique howl that drops in pitch suddenly and ends with a sudden whoop! Fascinating! It is also a higher octave call that leads me to suspect it’s a female because a typical howl is returned off in the distance.

Though this is a distant call/howl combination it truly shows two individuals, perhaps a male and a female, communicating.

🎧👣Very interesting audio sequence here!👣🎧 We hear 3 howls, then a slight pause and finally a gunshot. I have never recorded howls followed by a gunshot. One can only imagine the circumstances. Was it a pure coincidence in the middle of the night or was a landowner defending his property!? We will likely never know.

🎧👣A scream is heard in the forest. A large biped animal foraging near the microphone jumps to attention and stomps through the woods. Pay close attention to the loud stomping and tree limb snapping. 👣🎧

Visited one of our research areas in the fall of 2023. Lots of activity after a weather front passed over. Multiple howls & whoops!

On August 5th, 2024 around 11:30pm something passed by the microphone. Three deep hums followed by pulsating deep grunts. 

The preceding hum is ~250 Hz. The grunt is very low with harmonic spikes up to ~450Hz.

CLOSE Scratchy Whooping Sounds on 04/27/18 at 12:14 am.  37 seconds of silence was removed between the whoops. The second part of this clip happened 4 minutes later at 12:18 am. This includes tapping or knocking.

Recorded in a private area West of town on Feb 08, 2019 at 8:51 pm. Could be a coyote but it's an odd sound and by itself. It sets off the local dogs.
