"Some time in 1985, I stumbled across a station playing 'The Roof Is On Fire' by Rock Master Scott & The Dynamic Three, cursing and all. Thus began my initiation into the world of college radio. The first DJ at KDVS to have a rap show was named Oras Washington, and he became an important mentor. I made this brief mix and rode my bike down to the station to hand-deliver the tape. It's pretty rough, but it's a good snapshot of what I was into: East Coast and West Coast rap (not to mention a bit of London) and some James Brown thrown in for good measure."- DJ Shadow
