Like all of us, spending extended time in this current lockdown state we find ourselves in, the mind starts to drift... 

I’ve spent a lot of this year asleep, obvious reasons. There is this fleeting moment that occasionally happens in dreams, I’ll hear a vague melody of a song that sounds like it’s a long lost Ibiza sun soaked classic from the year 2085. It appears in an almost childlike memory which never happened...the music is soft, airy... barely there but I can hear it, feel and smell it... pang. 
I wake up, have my Weetabix and like most dreams, the idea dissolves, faded away to whatever thoughts invade that naive space in my brain, just now taken up by how bad France is this week with the thing...my thumb the culprit.
 
Frustrated, I open up my laptop, press the button that starts my music production software.. my dream comes back. Warm, tantalizing shades of pink, blue and orange start tip-toeing into my mind in brief flashes. 
 
Before I even begin to realise, those sugary melodies from Studio 2085 bursting with slurps, pops and fizzles start playing on loop in my brain.
Before the thing, the best way we escaped was clubs and dancing..remembering that feeling of being half giddy, 4am on a dusty dancefloor, warping squelchy rhythms pumping through speakers and suddenly that-tune-that-you-love starts playing, your friends (or randoms!) are dancing beside you, you are present, life is good.

The track had to be a dancefloor anthem. My mission was escapism, I turned to records that give me that feeling... Stardust ‘Music Sounds Better With You’, Four Tet’s ‘My Angel Rocks Back And Forth’, Omar-S ‘Thank U 4 Letting Me Be Myself’, the late SOPHIE’s modern classique ‘VYZEE’. 
I thought and got inspired by what these tracks stood for and the elements used that made them special. In a few days I slowly added bricks to my world, taking mindfulness to earmworm melodies which would bring a smile to people’s faces. Familiar yet fresh sounding. The weeks that followed, my Utopian anthem was slowly coming together ... for the moment, reality was not it.
Some outside work with some excellent mixing and mastering engineers later... ‘My Angel Rocks 4th & Back’ was born...it’s my escape from this current state, I hope it can be other peoples also.
