"Emerald" is an unreleased song by Melanie Martinez. It was recorded in the sessions for her third studio album, PORTALS, however, it was later scrapped.

The full song and its demo were leaked on October 31, 2021.

BACKGROUND:

Melanie wrote and recorded this song in the "portal room", which is her home studio in her old house. Melanie had asked her A&R, Jeff Levin, to send her folders with instrumental tracks from other producers in order to create songs outside of her own perspective. After recording a demo, she sent it along with the sessions to her producers Kinetics & One Love to finish production on the song, similarly to "FAERIE SOIRÉE", "MOON CYCLE" and "LEECHES".

THEME:

This song discusses the concept of self-worth and individuality. It conveys the message that everyone has their own unique value and that it is up to them to decide who is worthy of their time and energy. The song emphasizes the importance of being true to oneself and not allowing others to diminish one's value. The singer compares the rarity and value of the emerald to one's own uniqueness and individuality. It also touches on the theme of jealousy and how some people may try to bring others down due to their own envy.

"Emerald" is an unreleased song by Melanie Martinez. It was recorded in the sessions for her third studio album, PORTALS, however, it was later scrapped.

The full song and its demo were leaked on October 31, 2021.

BACKGROUND:

Melanie wrote and recorded this song in the "portal room", which is her home studio in her old house. Melanie had asked her A&R, Jeff Levin, to send her folders with instrumental tracks from other producers in order to create songs outside of her own perspective. After recording a demo, she sent it along with the sessions to her producers Kinetics & One Love to finish production on the song, similarly to "FAERIE SOIRÉE", "MOON CYCLE" and "LEECHES".

THEME:

This song discusses the concept of self-worth and individuality. It conveys the message that everyone has their own unique value and that it is up to them to decide who is worthy of their time and energy. The song emphasizes the importance of being true to oneself and not allowing others to diminish one's value. The singer compares the rarity and value of the emerald to one's own uniqueness and individuality. It also touches on the theme of jealousy and how some people may try to bring others down due to their own envy.

2ND INFO:

"EMERALD" had been used, to creat a track at the end of "NYMPHOLOGY" titled "AMULET", another unreleased track titled "MOTHER OF PEARL" had been used in the making of "AMULET" Melanie taking inspiration from both and making a short 58 ( or so ) second long song, for the transition from "NYMPHOLOGY" to "EVIL"
