I know this was written about being on the road and leaving a loved one behind, but as I was listening to this tonight, I was thinking of my daughter and grandson and every time I visit and see him so sad  when I leave, I wish I could only fly right back to see them whenever I miss them. Just feeling this song tonight . been a while since I posted and been trying to figure that to cover, and this one tugged at my heart. Love to y'all, Hope you get to see the ones you love often. Found this lullaby I wrote for my daughter, 'Little Boo' September 1998, she was 7 and we had moved from an energetic beach town to a small town in the mountains at the urging of my father to care for him. I was a single mom and it was .. hard.. but I loved my daughter dearly and that love for her pulled me through everything that I encountered . I would fight for her and l learned how, just by loving her, which I never learned to do for myself. My daughter now calls her son 'Little Boo'  and I know she loves him dearly. Parenting is hard, but I am so glad that I helped my daughter get a college education and she is married and well, and that's my proudest accomplishment is investing in her future. I just put a melody to this lullaby tonight and y'all know I am a very simple guitar player, but I know y'all also respect my sincerity of trying to express myself through the art that unifies us all. I feel blessed to be a part of this peaceful loving tribe. Thank you for listening. Love y'all.

Always liked this simple, yet heart felt song. I know it can be played with a lot more embellishments , but I can only do the simple versions. I know this is written about his lover or Maybe a good friend, but as a Mom I think of looking for a teenager who has run away and a Mom would do anything to get her back and let her know how much she is loved. That tends to be where my heart takes me on this kinda song road. ( Photo of me on the road in my younger days)

So much has happened in the World since I was last active on Soundcloud, nearly 3 years ago. The onslaught every day of so many people, animals and our precious Earth suffering, and no end in sight. I have been writing and painting how I feel, but my first recording is far from this, and of another time, a short, simple, and light offering for now.
I was born and raised in a small rural town that saw large amounts of snowfall in Winter, despite being the South of Scotland. We had plenty of hills to sledge down and no need to go to the Highlands. Through the years, in the many places I have lived in, my best walks were snow filled ones with the dogs, and in the mornings setting off when everything was pure and dazzling, and your whole body felt alive. The dogs would leap about so happy, and in turn affecting us, so that we were just as daft playing with them, totally energized! I give thanks for having had this.
This is for my beautiful wee Bridie, who died nearly 2 years ago.

Snow Skippin Days

Two years after I snapped the second wood tailpiece, I finally got the banjo up to the estimable Bucks County Folk Music Shop for an overhaul. They completely understood what I wanted - this is never going to be a Fine Instrument, but it can be a decently playable one with a great sound. The tech found an old tailpiece for me and (after one of the original pegs snapped as he was restringing it) some upcycled old tuning pegs. Neck was quite bent after 120 years or so, so he put a shim in there to balance it out and the action is way better. "Classic banjo" nylguts sound pretty close to the way I had it sounding with the guts, and they're way cheaper and more playable.
