Rush (2018), for solo digital media, was inspired by witnessing the actions undertaken by cyclists in Dublin City. The piece is based on a short set of recordings of interacting unusually with an old rusty bicycle that have been manipulated to project a reaction against the dangers imagined whilst witnessing the common occurrence of cyclists rushing around Dublin city amidst a host of obstacles, interweaving between large busses, cars, and pedestrians in all weather conditions or ignoring traffic lights, in all weathers. The piece is not intended at a literal interpretation, nor is it a play by play of one’s journey, rather a view of one witnessing these actions with unease and concern. The piece ends with the very same heart beat it begins with, making a seamless loop possible, or simply moving to the next day's journey all over again. A repeatable process, happening again and again, until the day it doesn’t.
