Splendor Solis ("The Splendour of the Sun") is a version of the illuminated alchemical text attributed to Salomon Trismosin. This version dates from around 1582.

The earliest version, written in Central German, is dated 1532–1535 and is part of the Kupferstichkabinett Berlin collection at the State Museums in Berlin. It is illuminated on vellum, with decorative borders like a book of hours, meticulously painted and highlighted with gold. The later copies in London, Kassel, Paris and Nuremberg are equally fine. Twenty versions exist worldwide.

The original of Splendor Solis, which contained seven chapters, appeared in Augsburg. In miniatures the works of Albrecht Dürer, Hans Holbein and Lucas Cranach were used. The author of the manuscript was considered to be the legendary Salomon Trismosin, allegedly the teacher of Paracelsus, though the name is believed to be a pseudonym. The work consists of a sequence of 22 elaborate images, set in ornamental borders and niches. The symbolic process shows the classical alchemical death and rebirth of the king, and incorporates a series of seven flasks, each associated with one of the then-known planets. Within the flasks a process is shown involving the transformation of bird and animal symbols into the Queen and King, the white and the red tincture. Although the style of the Splendor Solis illuminations suggest an earlier date, they are clearly of the 16th century.

In this episode, Raul Cârstocea, Lecturer in European History at Maynooth University and Honorary Fellow at the Stanley Burton Centre for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, University of Leicester, talks to Roland Clark (University of Liverpool)about historical antisemitisim and the rise of fascism in interwar Romania. He discusses the dramatic expansion of Romania’s borders following the First World War and the appearance of greater diversity in what had previously been a relatively homogenous population. The newly-incorporated territories included many Jews, who became a scapegoat for many of Romania’s postwar socioeconomic problems. Raul considers the role antisemitic narratives played in the emergence of the native fascist movement, and what distinguished it from other far-right groups in Europe before the Second World War.

“Tenderness” is the first collaborative album between Japanese musician Yumi Iwaki and Brazilian Carlos Ferreira using unreleased sketches, improvisations, and samples, “Tenderness” is a mosaic of painted sounds that does not end in itself, inviting the listener to inhabit its center.

Porto Alegre based experimental guitarist Carlos Ferreira and Tokyo-based synthesizer hypnotist Yumi Iwaki are presenting "Tenderness" , their first ever collaborative album through Modern Obscure Music. Carlos and Yumi have created this powerful ambient odyssey at the distance. Despite some connections between Yumi's family roots with the Brazilian musical scene, both artists feel a strong attraction about their cultural differences, through Literature, films, scents, colors, and nature… Carlos feels “there are infinite cultural differences between Japan and Brazil, and this can be explained by historical and even geographical factors, but people come together through very strong elements that are able to transcend these differences. Diversity must also unite us.”. I couldn't sleep. In the night silence, there was an annoying buzzing sound. Sufficiently irritated, I snapped the protective valve in my ear that shuts off my (by then, it should be noted, quite exhausted) brain from the outside environment, and a silent annoying sound began to leak out of my ear. Its pressure increased and sometimes decreased to drops. In a word, various things spread from there for 20 minutes  

And so? I invite you to a 20-minute sound journey through sleepless tangled neural labyrinths

5 Chords, a Name & a Rhythm

I played these chords, oooh, reminds me of something, Toto? Which song?? Pamela? 
I didn't check, just recorded the name Pamela, what a nice name! I don't even know a Pamela, this will be my Pamela.

A few days later I decided to listen to Toto. I spent the whole evening listening to Toto, I can recommend it, it was a lovely evening! But I didn't hear my chord progression. A little despair clouded my mood.

The day after I was told by the man who says "Pamela" in this track, it was a riff from "All night long", you know, Lionel Ritchie. Ah, well. I like that song. Nothing like Toto at all. 

Weird trip, this track.

Wiersz Bolesława Leśmiana, który stanowił inspirację dla tego wydawnictwa towarzyszył mi przez kilka miesięcy stając się punktem wyjścia dla stworzenia muzyki mogącej stanowić soundtrack dla podróży przez bór, który opuszcza dziwaczne zwierzę powołane do życia przez poetę, jak również dźwiękową interpretację uczuć znajomych współczesnemu człowiekowi: chaosu, bezradności, prób zrozumienia otaczającej rzeczywistości - niezwykle złożonej i dynamicznie się zmieniającej - i odnalezienia się w niej na wielu płaszczyznach.

Od strony muzycznej wszystkie utwory powstały na drodze eksperymentu i improwizacji z użyciem cyfrowego, analogowego i akustycznego instrumentarium.

The poem by Bolesław Leśmian, which inspired this album, accompanied me for several months, becoming the starting point for creating music that could become a soundtrack for traveling through the forest, which is being left behind by the bizarre animal brought to life by the poet, as well as a sound interpretation of the feelings familiar to modern people: chaos , helplessness, attempts of understanding the surrounding reality - extremely complex and dynamically changing - and finding our place in it in many aspects.

On the strictly musical side, all tracks were created through experimentation and improvisation using digital, analog and acoustic instruments.
