It's awesome to find one who is safe enough to lean upon, someone who takes us as we are, someone who doesn't give up on us even when we keep burning them.

I'll Let You In

I believe in the mind-body connection!  I knew my recent back pain was likely more about all the stuff going on inside my head than a real physical problem.  So, I journaled it out, little by little writing down the sadness, feeling of helplessness, etc. I feel much better now. :-)

Little By Little

This song speaks to the profound loss and confusion of discovering that the one you love hasn't been happy for years but never communicated it.  Like a sudden fire that burns your house down, they never saw it come their way.

Never Saw It Come My Way

I struggle with OCD so this song speaks to that aspect of being tied up in my head, but also more broadly it speaks to anyone with the constant thoughts in their heads that no one is aware they are thinking while seeming to be just fine on the outside.

Back To You

I recently found myself on an unwelcome journey (cancer)so I had to remind myself that mercy and goodness are going to follow me and I remain in God's love even as I walk through the shadow lands.

Shadow Lands

Sometimes we just hide or run away from God because we know ourselves and feel unworthy or ashamed, but the reality is that He knows us even more than we know ourselves and still loves us unconditionally.  Maybe once we believe that, we will find that we can't walk away.

Can't Walk Away

I wrote this song as I dealt with losing my kidney because of potential cancer.  As I walked the path daily near my house, I was very appreciative of every breath God gives me to live!

So Good to Breathe

I wrote this song as one of my kids was in a painful dark place both physically and mentally. My wife and I kept encouraging her to hold on, that we remembered a time when she was better and she would get back there again.  But, when you are in it, it's not easy to see that.  I hope this song helps someone out there persevere through the darkness.

Hey Dear Friend

If you are one of the millions of invisible musicians out there creating content, you have that inner dialogue regularly as to whether to keep going when so few people see or hear you. Perhaps you can relate to the question of will it be "enough" if no one listens but God.

Enough

This song is for all those who have been stunned by an unexpected loss or betrayal. If you are in the middle of it, let the words be your lament as you grieve and as you heal.

So Many Ashes

Some people journal, I write songs. Sometimes it's biographical, other times it's living in the skin of another. Like anyone who writes songs, you hope the lyrics will resonate with someone in similar circumstances, a humble gift of words that give voice to their journey. I think CS Lewis was right, "We read to know we are not alone."
