Terry Cade was born and raised in Toronto and made her lifetime commitment to music at a very young age. Considered “a true jazz vocalist” (Toronto Star), Cade is also a respected composer, arranger, and educator. She has performed extensively throughout Canada and The United States and has worked with John Hicks, Ratzo Harris, Victor Jones, Lou Marini, Cameron Brown, Jonathan Goldsmith and Dave Restivo, among others. Cade has studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music, York University, The Berklee College of Music and The Manhattan School of Music, as well as privately with Anne Marie Moss, Meredith D’Ambrosio and Fred Stone. Cade considers Betty Carter, Bill Evans and Thelonious Monk to be among her strongest influences, both in her composition and her singing, for their unique approach to harmony and performance. Cade was a recipient of The Canada Council Award for the Arts and was a featured performer in the “Women in Jazz” series at the Texaco New York Jazz Festival. She has recorded 2 well received CD’s under her name – “Sometimes I’m Happy” and “All in a Day’s Dream”.
Cade currently divides her time between Toronto and New York City.
