Having recently moved into a shared "music house" in the spacious suburbs of London after a breakup, LP Gavin seized the opportunity to confront his own daftness and the daftness of the world around him. With a batch of songs that formed the backbone of his latest album, he created an environment ripe for experimentation. The house, complete with a studio filled with drums and guitar amplifiers, became a playground for creativity, allowing him and collaborator Sean Brook to explore the music with a freedom that’s hard to find elsewhere.

With a unique blend of fuzz and observational lyrics, LP Gavin crafts music that navigates the cosmic and the quotidian, reflecting the beauty of a universe balanced precariously between the mundane and the arcane. He’s been watching you—your quirks, your struggles—and felt compelled to write songs that capture the beauty of your life, full of its complexities and contradictions.

From rockers that echo the indie family tree to softer, weirder tracks, LP Gavin's work showcases his eclectic taste, drawing inspiration from artists like Ovlov, Robert Wyatt, Pavement, and Mississippi John Hurt. Each song emerges from a different creative spark, whether it's a whimsical title jotted down in a launderette or a fully-formed chord progression arriving in a moment of clarity.

LP Gavin loves you, and he hopes you’ll find something beautiful in his songs. This is a record of his observations, a mixture of the cosmic and the quotidian, absurdity and tragedy, mundanity and splendour. ‘If you're alone this Christmas’ is a slice of Christmas pop gold written from the point of view of a lonely cat called Rio left alone at Christmas by her family. In the song Rio ponders what Christmas would be like if she had some company from fellow felines.

Crawl Town is the duo of Adam Clarkson (Captain Dangerous/Stuart Pearce) and Tom Brown (Teenage Tom Petties/Rural France/Lone Striker) with help drafted in from fellow musicians to create woodwind, string, and brass accompaniments. 

The song was produced by Tom Brown and Dan Sheen and mixed by Tom Brown and Jack Shirley and mastered by Jack Shirley.

The real Rio sadly passed away in 2022 and the song is dedicated to her memory.
