Absolute Favourites

K² is a music addict and 1990’s rave scene survivor from Oslo who occasionally DJ's. A vinyl freak for over two decades, his ever-growing record collection includes a little bit of everything – from ambient to deep house, acid and hardcore. And techno – lots of it. This mix explores the deep, driving, hypnotic side of his favourite genre, where current  “drone techno” stalwarts such as Milton Bradley and Giorgio Gigli nestle snugly alongside oldschool heroes like Orlando Voorn and Robert Leiner. One of the intentions was to bridge the past and the present: The oldest track is from 1992, the newest is from this year. 

K²’s favourite track of all time is “Elektra” by The Source Experience. The first record he bought was a Knutsen & Ludvigsen LP (apologies to non-Norwegians). He’s written a few hundred record reviews and compiled a techno CD with some friends to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Oslo’s oldest squat (Blitz) . He gets misty-eyed at the sight of abandoned warehouses and disused industrial sites. His motto is borrowed from Max Duley and goes like this: "Raving is a way of life. In fact, I'm raving right now. I'm going to bed soon and I'm gonna rave there too." If you like this mix, you may buy him a beer. Or a copy of “Uncharted”.

Into The Fields

Aaaah finally.

In a period where I was dangerously close to losing all interest in the techno scene. When I really start questioning why and for what reason I have been doing this. Amongst all the self-indulgence, commercially obsessed promoters, "exclusive" clubs and elitist underground nonsense attitudes, I didn't expect looking at secondnature's website to change my mood so much.

Modest, genuine and above all represents, to me at least, the fundamental reason behind this type of music. A real interest to just get the music to the people. Josef Gaard was my route to discovering secondnature and his mix was equally open and full of interest. Easily my favourite of the podcasts I have released in recent times and did enough to knock me back on track, with some really inventive tracks full of depths and character. I seriously recommend checking this and the whole of secondnature out.

Top stuff.

Loxique is rather discreet, comes straight from Romania and is one of the new scene' rising talent. He already has many productions to his credit. His style is rather mental ; he likes intricate and hypnotic rythmics and his tracks are tainted with a groovy melancholy. His tracks are characterized by his signature smooth touch. Recently, he played at Eden Club (Romania), Database Club (Romania), Le Batofar (Paris, Fr), Le Châpiteau de la Belle de Mai (Marseille, Fr), le Terminal (Lyon, France), TEMF Festival (Romania)...

Antoine aka Stigr is a sound technician and composer from west of France. Collecting and mixing records from the late 90's, he started recently to make its own music, which is mostly ambient and techno music inspired both by nature and technology, always trying to find new ways to create or shape sounds, with a real love for modular environnement.

Antoine aka Stigr 는 프랑스 서부 출신의 사운드 테크니션이자 프로듀서이다. 90년대 후반의 레코드를 즐겨 수집하고 믹싱하고 있는 그는, 최근 자연과 테크놀러지 모두에서 영감을 받아 엠비언트와 테크노 음악을 만들기 시작했으며, 진정한 모듈러 방식의 사운드로 작업하고 있다.

I do like to be introduced to new artists and i love to listen to their interpretations , not really knowing what to expect.       As soon as I started listening to this set , I instantly fell in love with it – anyone who regularly checks this page will know the sound I am into and this mix is DEFINITELY me!
