Oh what a time it's been...

After a small hiatus with the mix series I felt it was important to keep going with it. This beautiful healing music by Berlin based @slowfoam is exactly what the doctor ordered. Slowfoam is the cyber-atmospheric, bubblescape, synthetic pop, and ambient sound project of Madelyn Byrd

"In this mix, I wanted to drift between otherworldly realms to reassociate with the things I love most about ours. For me, some of these things include laying on the earth and pretending to merge into the blue sky, the sonic and energetic sensations of being alone in nature, or staring at a glistening river until falling into a trance. But also, having friends and loved ones I miss so much I start to giggle when I think about the fun we've had together, and then fun we'll have together again." 


Sending love via this intrinsically magical musical language, to everyone in the Animalia community.

POOLcast 064 - ANN

The March edition of our POOLcast series is provided by ANN. One of the founders and integral part of The POOL Berlin, as well as curator of POOLcast. ANN has been exploring the different layers of electronic music for about 20 years now. A period of time in which you constantly search, find and comprehend yourself anew between different genres, styles, media and times.

POOLcast 064 could be titled "Between". Not only did his connection with electronic music originate between two formative decades in Berlin. ANN also witnessed many electronic music styles, media and developments that shaped the zeitgeist of the time. Never simply doing what was in the manual or what the past demanded, he always tried to look between the shell and the core. In the space between experiencing music and making music, an area is created which makes room for something new. ANN creates and experiences his music simultaneously. This is not limited to the temporal moment, but also to the use of media and instruments used for listening and making music. When the boundaries between generating and reproducing sounds become blurred, a cycle between experiencing music and generating music is formed. The space between action and reaction leads to the fact that it is not clear where the beginning and end of this creative cycle. It is often impossible to tell whether ANN is listening to music or making music. A disadvantage for outsiders, because if they are not there live, they do not often get to enjoy his work.

Therefore, we are of course even more pleased that ANN again provides us with one of his works. This time a mixtape that was created from his constantly growing vinyl collection. Somewhere between Jazz, Ambient and Musique Concrete.

"i ve always had a bit of a split personality between really fast,
loud or sensous bangers and all-envelopping, thick-padded, soothing
ambient. in the past i got to share my poppy obsessions du jour directly on the dancefloor back when clubs were still a thing and i was running a silly,
chaotic and very gay monthly party called saint hollywood.

with almost all of my coping mechanisms suddenly unavailable and a bunch of
writing to do, i ve spent most of the past year digging for soft, soothing sounds i can listen to over and over, especially at times when i can barely listen to music at all. 

lexi inviting me to contribute to one of my fav series has been an amazing gift and i hope this little mix does it justice <3"

Episode Nine is an hour long imaginary soundtrack of a fascinating ritual, a mesmerizing adventure from the hypnotic state to the phase of sudden attacks. The visionary mind behind this haunting mix is Marco Mentale aka Mental, a true ozorian who has been doing his best for the stage of Dome in Josko’s team for long years.

Mental is the head of Visionary Mind, a label/collective from in and out Budapest. He curates the label driven morning slot at Pumpui stage too. Mental has been collecting music since he has memory and for a few years now and he’s been very supportive in the development of alternative stages at a few psychedelic festivals around the world.

We’re welcoming today Egyptian Polonius – the moniker of multi-instrumentalist and composer Seifeldin Gaber -, whose music has been described as archeo-mirage or holographic rhetoric. Co-founder of the label Grey White Blue 1972 and prolific producer with about 20 or so albums and demos since 2016 under the aliases of Gondola Wish, 80s detective, Seif G. between others, the Milan-based musician always explores different worlds, qualities and interpretations. He has, over the years, worked with artists like Cheikh Tidiane Fall, Quanta Qualia, Jooklo Duo, BABAU (from beloved ArteTetra Records) and many more.

Follow Seifeldin to enter weird and hallucinogenic atmospheres through his ‘Miracle Dowsing’ live act. Born from the ashes of a pre-covid in-progress live set, Polonius decided to keep a performance of it, frozen in filmic amber. A psychedelic fluctuation between hazy fourth-world, minimalist ambient, bewitching field recordings and distorted movie samples. And FIY, Miracle Dowsing is the act of using rhabdomancy in order to locate a “miracle vein”. These said veins “occur” during chance meetings of any sort, whether they be of sounds or people.

Welcome on board, here's the 55th episode of the Stellar Series.

Rig Thrall is one of those artists with strong character and style, plus an eclectic and varied selection combined to solid influences. A racy techno style combining planar and tribal music but also progressive trance, breaks and marked tones from the 80s-90s.

He co-created various projects during his young life in this industry, such as @rakya-records (label & collective) in Paris or OQULT collective in Montreal (facebook.com/oqultmtl) for the most recent.

Also producer, he released two EPs, including one on his own label, and several collaborations on movie or advertising soundtracks. He is currently working on new projects which should see the daylight soon. Case to follow.

Infatuated with the intersection of analogue & synthetic sound creation, aethernal founded the Erfurt (GER) based label Linie Neun in 2020 with three other obsessive artists. His sound is driven by his percussive impressions as a drummer and the relentless urge to explore further synthetic impressions. Psy-Low, A meditative live composition inspired by a modified state of consciousness,  induced by Psylocibine.

Paul, alias Noesis, is a french artist based in Aubervilliers (Paris / FR). Paul focus its creation in an experimental approach of electronic music, in connection with the digital arts, and use of artificial intelligence as a tool for creation rather than enslavement.
Musically, the approach doesn't obey to established style compositions technics : sometimes ambient, generative, tribal, often mystical, willingly futuristic, with influences from IDM, bass music, electronica, or science fiction soundtracks. Live (AV), the project could take the form of a collaboration with the artist Francesca Diprima in an “augmented” dance performance.

No3sis has very recently co-founded the Syrinx Music label where music and digital art projects are to come. You can also listen to it every month its "noetic show" on Threads Radio.
