The piece structure arises from one of the Sudali Tala of the Indian carnatic music: Dushkara, a nine beat rhythmical cycle formed by the following subdivisions or anga: Laghu5 (four beats) - Drutam (two beats) - Drutam (two beats). Every beat is divided into a number of equal duration units or matras, five in this case, where the composer can work with certain amount of freedom omitting and/or tying those units.

It is not a matter, as occurs in the carnatic tradition, of a development based on the rhythmical variation of the cycle, but a discourse based on a fragmented dialogue of it were  instrumentation plays a fundamental role in its timbrical diversity and the use of tempo in its formal architecture.

L5DD” is a work primarly rhythmical were the instruments form a whole from through basic frequential roles. A machine-like performance is wanted, being aware of its impossibility and finding in that fact its optimal place.
