Babylon Blues

The 2nd album by Babylon the Beach – coming soon. Recorded at the Famous Gold Watch in Berlin 2023, "13:13" stands both for the total playtime of the piece, but also represents the band's initials (with a slight hint towards 13:12 of course). It's a barebones return to the band's garage rock and blues punk roots: raw, fierce and oddly danceable. The mini-album's concept circles around ideas of doomsday dance, protest march lingo and retro-futuristic dystopian fiction.

Featuring a total of 8 musicians on 8 songs, recorded on analog 8-track tape in Berlin-Wedding, and with music videos shot on Super-8 film, this album was all about "making new music the old way" - and apparently the number 8.

Inspired by the postmodern eclecticism of Tarantino Soundtracks, the band's embracing several decades of music history and genres here: wild, riff-heavy funk meets soothing melodies; dark surf-chords mingle with soft jazzy vibes; beach goth is holding hands with indie pop - all united in the spirit of post-punk and its playful lyricism.
