YUNG DUMB Records and Model Future present Wade Galaxy. A collaboration between Toronto-based AZARI, Butr, and vocalist Jeremy Glenn. The trifecta comes forward with an EP that will bring you through a modular soundscape of love, lust, and distrust inside the hypercube. The A-Side is a hazy fusion of R&B and slowed electro, accompanied by Jeremy Glenn's ethereal vocals. The B-Side provides a room shaking cerebral 2-step remix of 'Phaze' by James Bangura, and fade off with a higher octane version of 'Hypercube' dubbed 'Surrogate Mix', as we exit directly into the future.

The limbic system is a group of interconnected structures located deep within your brain. It's the part of that's responsible for behavioral and emotional responses. Enter Moritz Bommert aka Bomat - a German composer, producer and DJ  originally from Cologne now based in Berlin who started using the alia Bomat in 2018. With some classy tunes already out (including a couple of heaters on NY’s Nervous Records), Bomat’s first outing on clipp.art dives headlong into the sound of yesterday’s tomorrows with an absolutely filthy decent cut of what would traditionally be defined as “lofi house”. Deep and resonant, driving and gritty, Feels Like I’ve Seen You smashes into you right in that aforementioned limbic system, generating melancholic euphoria, head nodding and more than a few limb movements. A fitting coda to what has been a rollercoaster of an emotional year. Stay frosty, softy.

Filled to the brim with all of the inventiveness the sonic auteur has commanded we expect from his sizable and consistent body of work on world renown labels such as Perlon, ~scape, !K7, and his own Süd Electronic and Khoikhoi imprints, and dare we say offering us perhaps the most cohesive, emotive, and balanced of his highly-admirable catalog here to date. By using the analogy of a shadow that possesses its own consciousness, the theme of light and its distortion vs balance with the inherent and necessary darkness that surrounds it is in clear vision.

Those tasty Glasgow types Manakinz (Sub Club legend Harri and Max Raskin) are back with their third EP for Monologues, filled with another three beguiling, heavyweight, innovative belters.'Electric Bob' kicks off with the dreamiest of chords and heady vocal delays floating over a chugging groove, before 'Lovely Lugz' takes things in a moodier direction with Hamish Hay's infectious afrobeat-flavoured guitar licks, tribal percussive rhythms and a stomping bass groove. 'Nifty McPherson' rounds the EP off in tripped-out style, with hypnotic FX and bugged-out synths bringing a psychedelic edge to this varied EP.

Ben Hauke, one of our favourite producers working across broken beat, jazz and the wider electronic musical landscape, puts his own special spin on "Stillness" by Italian jazz funk duo, Re:Fill.

Comprising of Gaetano DeCarli on drums and Stefano De Santis on keys, with their interest in the energies of the dancefloor, Re:Fill's music lends itself to remixes. In the right hands. Ben Hauke's take, alongside remixes from Brighton UK based WheelUP and label boss Sofatalk, doesn't disappoint.

Ben Hauke really shifts perspectives on "Stillness", with the hazy piano fuelled experience found in the original turbo drived upon a two step leaning beat. The delicate piano that makes the original so intoxicating remains as a rhythmic motif, with plenty of intriguing elements thrown into the mix that keep the mind yearning for more, whilst the beat gets the feet stepping until the early hours.

For those who don't know, Ben Hauke is a South London producer. Ben's distinctly London identity fluctuates between house, broken beat and instrumental hip-hop. Always full of character and style, Hauke's productions have seen him likened to Theo Parrish and Madlib, with an altogether physical approach to sound.

'Cycles (remixes)' is out on Cognitiva on vinyl and digital on April 25.

Ahead of the full release of ‘Cycles’ by the Jazzfunk duo Re:Fill, Cognitiva shine a light on the incredible remixes that feature on the LP, with the reworks coming from some fine talents indeed.

The sound that Re:Fill are able to conjure up is one of rhythmic complexity, simmering melodic sequences, and an overall feeling of quietly building euphoria that only comes from Jazz laden dance grooves. To assist with the overall vibe of their debut LP, Sofatalk, WheelUP and Ben Hauke were recruited to put their spins on the cuts ‘Impulse’ and ‘Stillness’, and the goods they serve up are truly spectacular. ‘Impulse’ sees both Sofatalk and WheelUP working their magic, with the Sofatalk remix adding in a cosmic tinge to compliment the already wide array of chordal tones, with emphasis placed on the movement between density and spatial vacuums which makes the movement through the phases extra enjoyable. WheelUP takes things down to a saunter, but what a saunter it is, with the feeling captured here one of rhythmic excellence, with the keys enveloping the listener in what could only be described as a blissful bath of melody.

Following the sublime smash debut “X17”, LA-based label Elbow Grease head conductor Dave Aju continues on his righteous piece-by-piece journey toward a multi-genre multiverse, where deep musical roots come together in kaleidoscopic expression, and unfakeable funk reigns supreme. 

“Spacio Tempo” picks up where we last left off, though with a notable drop in bpm as the title implies, with a rolling 4/4 textural tapestry that combines pulsating layers of soulful synth work, effervescent live percussion, and heavenly strings into a dense yet open-as-the-night-sky extended gem yet again. Just as the machine patterns of near-equator rhythms bubble over and begin to lock into a hypnotic groove, a bold left turn into a dank latin jazz noir vibraphone solo and SH-101 duet tango ensues, before landing us safely back at home base - right on time, at its own spacial pace. 

As per the Elbow Grease release recipe so far, the B1 cut offers DJs a more driving flex, this time in the form of the “Acido Tempo Mix”: a raw 303-driven take on the original which will undoubtedly stomp its way fiercely thru many bass bins in sweaty basements and warehouses worldwide. Finally the B2 blessing “Domingo Dub” closes things out, removing all but the highest vibes as an ambient drifting and uplifting take on the main theme, where the faintest of vocal tones, space echoes, and light percussive touches leave us elated in a West Coast, with subtle splashes from the D, sunset dream. Another solid single turned three-tracker sure-shot from EG.

First written without a comma, Boy, crush  was meant as a hommage for a very special boy in the non-binary artist’s life. The comma in between the two words varies the meaning: it is now also meant as an invitation for all men to collectively crush manhood (and all its toxic traits).

This EP consists of several formidable female artists, hand-picked by Allysha as an extension of the Torn : Tonic message, to empower and share the stories of women and non binary peoples through song. Shy One kicks off the set, fresh from her recent Eglo Records EP, and kicks ’Still Dreaming’ (also featuring Rara Zulu on vocals) up to 130BPM, for a jackin’ heads down affair, complete with an unapologetic kick, crispy hats, chopped rhodes, rolling bass and subtle acid tweaks. Risa T from the CoOp Presents crew is up next with her rub of the Ego Ella May collab ‘Calling You’. This one staying truer to the original track, switching the rhythm to a 4/4 bounce and picking up the tempo — slightly deeper, dubbier affair for the dancers. UK Soulstress Emmavie takes on the album track ‘Fatima’ which also features the vocals of Belle Bangard. The most downtempo of the set, though the double-time hats and growling b-line keep the energy high, with sliced guitar cuts and additional backing vox from Emmavie herself. It’s a seriously smooth concoction. Finally, Glasgow’s Rebecca Vasmant provides her flip of the album’s lead single ‘Let It!’, adding some warm sub-bass and delicate harps. This unique mix brings space to the original sax and harmonics, while the drums run alongside this expansive skippy pulse.

Music for sunset. Light electronics with elements of live instruments recorded with different musicians in different circumstances, cities and countries. Resampled piano from the iPhone voice recorder of Darya Barmina, flute from the legendary Nastya Maslova, fat and elastic bass from Roman Miussky, magical percussion from Valentin Golovachev (Valique) and quite direct references to Kool And The Gang, Roy Ayers and Quincy Jones are combined with the vibe of Kaytranada, Jarreau Vandal and Kolombo.
