matthew im (@matthewim) releases his debut EP entitled "Munchies" via Toronto label Exhume Music. matthew im, the Toronto based producer, is a lofi hiphop producer that dabbles in sample based music while pulling in elements from jazz and 90's hiphop. Created through out late evening hours, these are the leftovers (food pun) that couldn't get any features. While indulging in Munchies you get a taste of all these elements, from jazz trumpets to Dilla samples and even classic Cheech and Chong vocals to start the EP. Yesterday, I started writing a dedication of this song to all the patient and selfless loved ones in my life. Then the Las Vegas shooting happened, and I was horrified by what I saw and read. It pains me so much to think that 58 lives were so quickly senselessly murdered— people who potentially loved other people in the same way my husband, family, or best friend love me. My world would be shattered if someone close to me was killed like that. May humans cherish each other through every hardship. Dedicated to loved ones everywhere.
