Out Of My Tree is a light-hearted, tongue-in-cheek comment on society's pressure to unconditionally love everything about Christmas and to subscribe to society's increasing transformation of Christmas from a joyous time for family into a commercialised festival of consumption. Ultimately, the song's narrator is a 'grumpy old man' who doesn't like feeling forced to socialise with people he doesn't see from one year to the next and, instead, pines for what he remembers Christmas used to be.

For this release, ToB's original lead singer, Darren Bardoe took up an invitation to write and sing a lyric for Keiron Metcalfe's dismantling and subsequent re-construction of a composition from Kevin England, written in 1989. Finally, Jason Dixon added a typically-melodic bassline to Metcalfe's production that is obviously influenced by the 'Wall of Sound' (with a touch of Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood plus a light sprinkling of Trevor Horn).

Founded in 1987, the four original members of ToB have crafted a style of guitar-based, classic-sounding Rock which is truly their own, formed over the last 30 years from a wide and varied range of influences, including Dire Straits, Bruce Springsteen, Gary Moore, Spin Doctors, Pearl Jam, Bad Company, Simple Minds, Jeff Lynne, Train, Matchbox Twenty, Eric Clapton, AC/DC, The Eagles, Pink Floyd and many, many more.

With guitarist, Kevin England, being hugely influenced by the likes of Knopfler, Clapton, Gilmore and Moore, it is his own bluesy and country style that gives the band it's classic, Roots Rock sound. But a style of composing which has simplified over the years (and which is hugely influenced by Keiron Metcalfe's pursuit of catchy and memorable choruses and hooks) gives the band a definite tilt towards the 'POP' side of things. The result, therefore, is solid Rock songs which can range from melodic and moody to foot-tapping and sing-along to rollicking and raucous, but which are sprinkled with a smattering of populism which, as is the case with ALL good Pop songs, provides the listener with a comforting, deja-vu-like sense of familiarity. And that curious sense of knowing and understanding is well and truly supplemented by the wispy, universally reflective lyrics of Darren Bardoe or Keiron Metcalfe's own slightly more pointed words.

ToB's songs are ALL original, all unique; but there is a special, indescribable and unfathomable secret recipe instinctively mixed into the ingredients of each song which reminds the listener of something they can't quite put their finger on...... You THINK you've heard it before - but you haven't. You THINK it sounds like something/someone else - but you don't know who or what it is.
