I was just having a bit of fun in the studio one day, 'hey lets lighten the mood in the midst of all this bonkersness'. the main vocal was done in one take, while the engineer James was getting levels, got to the end and  he said 'lets do the proper vocal', I replied 'did you get that take?', James replied 'yes', I said that 'IS the vocal!' Recorded on a cassette probably 30 years old salvaged from my parent's house.. Our mistake, we will buy new tapes! But there is a charm how it dips in and out like the album you borrowed off your pal in 1988 that you taped to tape, probably using high speed dubbing..

This is a cover we did of Craigie naked Faces song in Jan 2023. But just wanted to provide a remastered version from source cassette nearly a year on with a bit  more oomph! I still love it, thanks for letting us play with your song Craigie.

Fuck Amnesty Joy Version (Craigie Cover) remaster

This is an instrumental Kev (K D Productions) sent to us late one night and I thought it had that late eighties, early nineties hip hop vibe about it like De La Soul or Tribe called Quest, so I made up a rhyme to go with it with that vibe in mind, it's so hard to not to rap in an American accent. We stuck this rough vocal that only existed as a phone recording previously on it on New years Eve we did 3 takes but the first I wasn't even directing my vocal in to the right microphone!! I recorded 2 other takes and we kept both and manipulated some of them but I think it's kinda fun, daisy age rap. Sorry about my American Accent when i'm from Dorset and live in Scotland, Joy tried really hard to coach me not to!

So last week we recorded this song foolishly on a a cassette that was at least 20 years old and it unsurprisingly had it's issues, which were kinda cute in a retro way, sounded like your high speed dubbing copy of INXS Kick you taped off your pal Paul in 1988, or Raw like Sushi by Neneh Cherry you borrowed of the library and illegally copied like the naughty naughty toe rag that you are. This week we have new Maxell tapes, which are much more expensive than the ones you bought from WHSmith in the late 80's, you can't even get chrome or metal tapes easily these days but when was the last time you saw Dunhills Devils or Strawberries & Cream in a sweet shop? We recorded from scratch tonight, the drums, bass (which Joy had to re learn) , guitars and vocals and made new tidier version I don't know if it's as good as or better than the original but it's certainly got less analogue skullduggery. Hope you like it, we do. But then we have been drinking Jam Shed Red Wine! I personally prefer my guitar on the original I was much more experimental and unhinged as I was quite intoxicated, today the guitar was done totally sober (yawn) and therefore has it's Sunday best on.

How Do You Feel?

Hi there, thanks for checking us out. We are a husband and wife duo, I'm Joystar and my fabulous husband is Olipop. Our journey began quite a few years ago when Olipop was writing some new songs and asked me to play some root notes on the bass for him to hear how it sounded. He had to string an acoustic guitar upside down for me since I'm a leftie. It grew from there with him teaching me where to play and learning a few of his songs. We played to some friends in their garden but I wasn't really involved in the writing process or really understanding what notes I was playing. Then at the end of 2019 I had an idea for a song and for the first time Oli had to learn my song. Since then I've been learning more and we've started writing songs together. It's been our sanity over the past few years and we have managed to release our first album together.
