Yamaha GX-1 Strings

The Blade Runner Blues lead / harmonica patch is one of the most expressive patches Vangelis ever did on the CS-80. Among other things it features sensitive and fine-tuned velocity and aftertouch response, with quite different settings for each of the two synth lines. Since it is not directly derived from the CS-80's preset buttons, as many of his other go-to patches were, and especially because it has so many expressive nuances, it is not a straightforward patch to recreate. 

 After many hours of fine-tuning every possible parameter on the CS-80V3 and much A/B comparison, this is the closest I have gotten. The pad background was created with the Roland VP-03 strings to emulate Vangelis' gorgeous VP330, and some Rhodes flourishes were added.

Gorky V1 Versatility

Here is a famous intro played with a custom Oberheim SEM Five Voice system. It is four layers for a total of 20 SEM Voices and each take will reset the PWM LFO and Vibrato LFO for a homogeneous sound so all layers will "vibrate" in sync with each other. Emulating the mighty Yamaha GX-1 which only had 1 PWM LFO for all voices. The SEM A LFO is routed to all other SEM for vibrato and SEM B LFO is routed to all other SEM´s for PWM, to act like a polyphonic synth and not 5 SEM´s playing together without syncronized LFO´s. Oberheim Twenty Voice

Trying to emulate the SYNTHEX DUAL mode using the Black corporation synth XERXES. A PWM pad style sound with BPF1 and Chorus3 setting.  Using only the right output but recording it twice and panning hard left and right will give a good synthex dual mode emulation. Feel free to download the wave file for better audio quality. No EQ, No fx except built in Chorus.

The "Gorky V1"  analog synthesizer (Горький В1, Военный аналоговый синтезатор) was a Soviet replica of Yamaha's GX-1. It was secretly built at the military rocket development center in Nizhny Novgorod around 1980 as part of a prototype of an "audio-weapon" to destroy the West sonically.
I recorded all demos over big speakers in a live room, adding just expander/gate to the mike signal. No effects, no equalizers.
It is said that the development and building costs of that synthesizer (out of rocket and satellite electronic parts) were equivalent of five Red Army MIG Jets in 1980. That‘s why the instrument is very stable. No problems so far with the silver mica and teflon caps they used.
