It's been a couple of months since I shared a rework and this is one of my all-time favourites. Obviously coming from two of the best producers around it's easy to create something decent from this source material. The original was released SEVEN years ago (can you believe that!?!?) and had a great remix back in 2014 from Fairmont. I basically made this to play in my sets but had a LOT of requests for it so here it is.

More than a classic re-designed, Amháin & Freedo Mosho's take on Sasha's seminal "Belfunk" taps deep into the core of the 1999 Xpander EP masterpiece and soars without ever compromising that primordial sense of finesse.

Enthralling from the outset, the remix builds its mystique on resonating bass stabs and surging mid-frequencies, creating a hypnotic frame that puts us under submission before narcotic fumes rise from its cavernous depths.

Propelled by a myriad of effervescent effects and acidic flourishes, the production pair leads "Belfunk" across the night into a break in the clouds where the moonlight reflects in kaleidoscopic fashion against the city's warm embrace, dousing it in a new light before chemistry works its magic.

In a delightful sleight of alchemy, Amháin & Freedo Mosho conjure a meandering lead that hangs suspended as it moves, drawing aqueous figures with every beat, showcasing a more sensual side of "Belfunk" for a sultry take on a quintessential piece of electronica.

Decoded Magazine Mix Of The Month November Submission - Akira

My competition entry is dedicated to my dear, late cousin, Pietro Gandolfo, who was taken from us in a tragic accident aged just 39. Pietro LOVED techno. He was a DJ too, and gave me my first exposure to turntables when I was 15 in his home country of Sicily. 

The journey features my complimentary vocals sung over three tracks, whilst live in the mix, in Italian. I speak to Pietro on behalf of myself, our family, and his friends, wishing him peace, and letting him know we'll be there to rave with him soon.

Recording this mix, whilst holding back tears, was one of the hardest things I have ever done. Whenever I play this mix I know Pietro is listening. I hope you enjoy it.

All of that was the catalyst. Had some citeonics and crappy. Borrowed belt driven drives for really poor efforts at DJing local youth clubs and occasional private parties. Kept up the music love and bedroom DJing. 

More recently enjoyed bringing the rave to fitness boot camps and the ambient soulful melodic house to Crosby Beach. Sunsets and sunny days been amazing.
