Episode 1: The Celebrity of Picasso + More

Inspired by an instagram post from artist Brad Troemel, in this episode I explore the question, should art be political? Activism in art and pop culture is currently the hottest new trend. People constantly boast their activist nature by reposting videos of Greta Thunberg on their Instagram stories and recirculating imagery of aesthetic and political content. In this age of internet activism, what role does art have to play in politics? Should art try to be political and what intentions do artists, collectors, and the general public have when it comes to activism? I ask questions like these and more in this episode where I hope to open a bigger dialogue on the dynamics of art as politics.

In the first episode of my podcast, I discussed the fascination behind artists as geniuses with dramatic lives which popular culture loves to indulge in. This episode requires me to spill all the tea on two well known and popular artists.
