A track that I made for experimenting back in early 2020, when I was still figuring out how ableton works. I wanted to try to remix the OST of one of my favorite games of all time, Actraiser for the SNES, and combine it with Metropolis by Kraftwerk. I was very into vaporwave back then (not that I dislike it now, but I listen to it much less nowadays), so I understood that I could do much more than just taking a song and slowing it down, as is often the stereotype. Therefore I decided to not just use samples, but to add my own original performance in certain parts of the song (the semi-improvised rhodes/electric piano solo will stand out to the listener). The name I like to give to this style of vaporwave with an added layer of improvisation is "Coniunctio", due to it being the result of the conscious decision to conjugate originality with "that which has already been made", trying to make a statement about the fact that there is no clear-cut distinction between these two categories.

So far, this is the most complex electronic piece I have ever made, taking about 5 months to assemble. 

 I suppose this piece is in A quarter sharp & quarter flat minor. To explain, every instrument is moving up and down in pitch slowly, at different speeds. These slow vibrati give a strange, enriching vibrancy to the harmony, especially when interacting with another instrument.

 The piece was composed and constructed using FL Studio, Adobe Audition and Audiosculpt 3.0. After literally hundreds of crashes, the piece was split into 12 parts to save on CPU usage, then stitched back together.

(fun fact, the ocarina in the background near the beginning uses the soundfont from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time)
