Zurich's King Ben brings some smooth and sophisticated house sounds to two new tracks on Kindisch.

At one time, Ben was Switzerland's youngest DJ having secured a gig at the legendary Sputnik Radio aged just 13. From there he has developed his own signature deep house sound, rich in melody and with plenty of fresh grooves. He has promoted numerous parties back home and held residencies in places like Silo and Zoo Club. He has landed on the likes of WAYU, Bar 25 and this label before now and makes a welcome return to kick off his 2022.

Up first is the stylish 'Un Verre De Rosé,' an eight-minute symphony of cuddly synth work and wispy chords. Wordless vocal coos deepen the mood and daubs of melodic colour rise and fall like lava in a lamp. Add in the soft and seductive grooves and you have a brilliantly hypnotic track.

'Autumn Leaves' is just as exquisitely designed but with a more brooding mood. The drums stand taller, with rubbery synth sequences rising up and down the mix next to melancholic pads. There are deft details all around, from the subtle vocal wails to the woodblock hits via the warming sub-bass.

'Un Verre De Rosé' proves Ben is a master of escapist house music for quiet hours and cosy dance floors.

Up next on A Tribe Called Kotori, please welcome Berlin's very own Madmotormiquel - all set and ready to storm the house after several transmissions on an array of quality outlets, including our good friends at Katermukke. His maiden incursion on the label, "Bombo", will not only be released in digital shape as per usual for the rest of our catalogue, but also in 12" vinyl format - with the special and endearingly peculiar trait that each cover is hand-designed by Chrisse Kunst and Madmotormiquel himself, making these collectible one-off pieces of art to adorn your shelves with. 

Opening cut and lead-single "Bombo" sets the wheels in motion at a slow and steady rate, progressively fleshing out its initially stripped-back funkiness with a polychromatic webwork of tribal rhythms, spectral synth murk and frizzling machine talk. The quirky "Kohiko" serves up a mischievous buffet of further syncopated moves and chirpy chimes pouring in cascades as a sturdy bass unfalteringly dictates the momentum. 

Shifting the scope to no-nonsense floor-busting objectives in its first stages, "Timezone Chaser" slowly evolves from sheer DJ functionality to jazzed-up abstraction through perfectly inlaid superimpositions of processed clarinets, dubbed-out drums and an overall hazy sound design to satisfyingly lose yourself in. EP closer "Rodrigues" opts for a more jagged approach, as it fuses skittish snares and hats at the fore with deep and vaporous pad tapestries in the background, resulting in the kind of heavily FX-layered, acid-leaning sleepwalker that'll keep the dancers' legs in motion even though their eyes seem shuttered.

Continuing to expand the Endangered roster with a crew of fresh upcoming artists, Brian Cid welcomes Mirida to the label with a 3-track EP of deep & emotive melodic techno.  
Brought up by Russia’s 90’s techno scene, Mirida has become one of the main drivers of Saint Petersburg techno and tech house in a career that’s spanned 20 years. He’s released original productions on labels like SOSO, Take Away and Seven Villas, and collaborated with artists Aquarius Heaven and Lazarusman. 
The EP begins with “Roger”, a track with gentle percussive elements and distorted vocal samples that create a sense of tension and anticipation of what’s to come. Dark & brooding synth accents establish right away that Mirida’s style fits in nicely with the sound of Endangered. 
“The concept of Aborigen was born while I’ve been traveling,” says Mirida. “Each track is a projection of what was happening around me. The main idea includes never stopping cars, motorbikes, long road traffic, planes in the sky and the story of exploring wild jungles.” The tribal drums and chanting vocals of the title track lock you in a trance, and truly bring you into Mirida’s state of mind of his creative concept for the release. 
The hypnosis continues into the EP’s finale “Firebird”, which is the most driving track of the package. Drifting pads fade in and out of the background, and allow the listener to really settle in and vibe along with the groove of the drums. 
Deep, melodic techno at its finest, and a stand out debut for Mirida on Endangered.
