Sunrise In Tokyo

This track has three sonic layers: First, I built a melodic baseline on my Novation Circuit that was supported by a second layer of samples from a Korg Volca. Then, I added something unusual. I wanted rich vocal sounds and found them browsing through the UBU SOUND archives. It is a fragment of a work composed by the French Charles Chaynes for an album called "Pour Un Monde Noir" (1980), where the voice of the soprano Christiane Eda-Pierre stands out. Strange coincidences: she died at 88, only about 10 days before I created this song in September 2020. Apparently, she was the first black opera singer in France. Here she appears performing parts of a poem by the Senegalese writer Moustapha Wade. The result is dark, atmospheric and somewhat phantasmagoric.

Este tema tiene tres capas sonicas: Primero, construí una base melódica en mi Novation Circuit que fue apoyada por una segunda capa de samples desde un Korg Volca. Luego, agregué algo inusual. Quería sonidos vocales intensos y los encontré explorando en los archivos de UBU SOUND. Se trata de fragmentos de un trabajo compuesto por el francés Charles Chaynes para un disco llamado "Pour Un Monde Noir" (1980), donde destaca la voz de la soprano Christiane Eda-Pierre. Extrañas coincidencias: ella murió a los 88 años, sólo unos 10 días antes de que yo crearara esta cancion en Septiembre de 2020. Aparentemente, ella fue la primera cantante negra de Opera en Francia. Aquí aparece interpretando partes de un poema del escritor senegales Moustapha Wade. El resultado es oscuro, atmosferico y algo fantasmagorico.
