This is an original composition which projects my emotions and thoughts on the disastrous flood in Chennai which occurred in December 2015. The composition is based on four Indian modes - Dharmavati, Gouri Manohari, Charukesi and Chakravagam. It is structured with based on a Sonata form. It is an experimental composition aimed at bringing the beauty of Indian modes through western classical form and harmony.

Introduction - [Bars 1-6] 
This section depicts the lightning and the thunders before the flood. 
The Exposition - First subject. First theme [Bars 6- 68]
The first subject, first theme describes the injustice to the people because this is not a natural calamity and a man made one. There are many reasons to this, shortly destruction of water bodies and constructions of high raised buildings in low lying areas. 

The Exposition - Second subject, First and Second theme [Bars 69-119]
Describes the common man coming to aid and their effort in relief work even when the government not only helps but also finds a way to make the process slow of NGOs and other organisations. 

Development - The divine intervention – [Bars 120-138]
When things look catastrophe and irrecoverable, one more day of rain might make the city look like a huge water body and the divine intervention - The sun. The people of Chennai have never been so happy to see a ray of sunshine and things slowly started moving back to normalcy. 

The Recapitulation – [Bars 139-230]
It finishes a circle of life in a simple way. Way of life back to normalcy, back to monotonous day job and the evil of life starts once again.

Written on a Theme and Variation structure. The theme by itself is my own with lots of folk influences. This is an incomplete work and more variations to come in the following days.

Piano Quintet On A Folk Theme

Inspired by John Adam's China gates, this composition explores some rhythmic and melodic patterns on Indian modes.

Indian Gates

This orchestral composition was written in 2019 played by the Trinity Laban Symphony Orchestra. Drama Triangle looks at three characters a bully, a rescuer, and a victim. This movement is from the viewpoint of a victim looking at the other two characters.

This is an experimental composition written for and played by The Smith Quartet. I tried exploring the concept of an 'alap' in an unconventional written and notated form for a String Quartet. This is the first time I explored incorporating Indian embellishment like 'gamaka' and 'slides' in Western classical notation.

First Light

This recording is a live recording from a concert played the Trinity Laban String Ensemble at St Alfege, Greenwich London. My composition was premiered here as part of the commission from Trinity Laban. 
I got inspired to write this composition while observing the patterns of waves and the difference when observed from the close view and a bird's eye view.  'Ripples' largely explores small asymmetrical pattern inside a bigger symmetrical pattern.
